The past two times that I have went to adoration I have noticed something and it has bothered me since. Mind you, I do not go as often as I should, but I am trying. However, what I find there is starting to turn me off to being there when others are being “disrespectful.”
On one occasion the person that was there for their hour (the one that had signed up for the hour) brought in a cup of coffee
. I almost fell off my chair onto the floor!?!? When did the adoration chapel become a coffee house
?? I do not think that if I walked into a room with our Savior there I would casually stroll in with a large cup of coffee and act as if there is nothing wrong with that.
Last night there was a husband and wife there and there are 6 chairs in the chapel with 4 of them being in a line with kneelers infront of them directly in front of our Lord. They were in seats number 1 and number 4. Neither of them made a move to allow me to come between them nor did they move closer to the other. To top it all off the lady was sewing
!! I went there to spend time contemplating some serious life issues going on with me and she is putting together a quilt,:banghead: …I was so frustrated. Then at the “changing of the guard” the 2 that were there talked with the gentleman that next and he mentioned “Oh, it looks like you are almost done, you are making progress!” What!!!
That leads me to my question, when did it become “acceptable” to do things other than worship and adore our Lord in adoration? Maybe I missed the memo…could someone forward it to me if so?!? I am just confused and frustrated about this. I have not talked with our pastor about it yet and am considering it. I just feel that this is not appropriate things to be doing in adoration…color me old school.
