Hi,
This happened in my parish awhile ago, and I thought I would ask about it here.
On Holy Thursday we repose the blessed sacrament from the Church Proper into the church basement.
In the basement we had an adoration area set up, with a pedestal for the blessed sacrament to be placed on.
The blessed sacrament was in a large glass bowl (many consecrated hosts were here) and put on the pedestal without any kind of cover.
It is my understanding that the Hosts should have been in a tabernacle at this time, as they were “ripe for desecration” in my book.
I don’t believe it was attended the whole time it was out either.
When I mentioned the need for a tabernacle for the hosts my priest sad “oh, that’s too heavy to move”–although I know it is supposed to be, the one we have in our basement is not that heavy, and two of us could have easily carried it to the pedestal fr. had put out. When I mentioned it could be done, he pretty much shrugged me off.
Should I have taken this issue up with my bishop?
In Him, through her,
