As of now my hope is to work here for no more than a year. I just hope I can keep my cool for that time. I honestly think that at least one of my coworkers says these things just to provoke me; unfortunately, he is my new boss. I really don’t know how to handle this situation. I have asserted myself as far as refusing to go to strip clubs, not participating in their conversation etc. The thing is, I am pretty much powerless right now when it comes to dealing with my supervisors.

Also, it isn’t easy teaching men twice my age. I have found that I have to assert myself within the first few minutes of each class and when they start off on their tangents and inappropriate conversations. I used to be a very passive aggressive person, as I get older I am becoming much more confident and somewhat confrontational when my students try to hijack my classes.

Your right about the older comment. When we age, we get more confident-I’m 30, so I am by no means old, (watch it about the comments, people!) but I’ve noticed that I am more confident than I used to be.

I’ve never been quiet or under assertive, in fact, I’ve become less of a hot head and a bit quieter as I passed into my late 20’s.
 
Personally, I wouldn’t say men are pigs. Romance and the Church’s Covenant for Behaviour has been taken out of the media, so more and more people don’t have guidelines for bahavior, so more people are acting like selfish children who seek instant gratification. The media is replacing True Love with brain-pleasure-seeking lust. It’s sad that so many people have been reduced to this.
