I wouldn’t drag him to any test unless he told me he had been sexually active or I found out he lied to me. And I hope I wouldn’t have to drag him - he should really want to go to show me he was STD free.

STD testing is not some sort of crazy weird thing to do. It’s just a basic health thing.

Pretty much every time I’ve had a baby, I’ve had STD testing. It’s standard procedure to give STD tests to the expectant mother (no matter how exceptionally virtuous she might be). It is just too dangerous to not do this. I also believe I had an HIV test both before doing a study abroad program and my Peace Corps service.

I don’t think I got any STD testing before getting married, but I’ve had lots of them just in the course of a normal life (travelling abroad and having babies).

Something like 110 million Americans have an STD. (That’s about one in three men, women and children.)
