Duh. Please hit me over the head. Occasionally this Longhorn can be as dumb an aggie.
Lower your head a little. I’m a short man and I don’t want to miss your noggin.

Kyrie eleyson.
Christe eleyson.
Kyrie eleyson.
are **Greek **words that are used in the **Latin **Mass meaning
Lord have mercy.
Christ have mercy.
Lord have mercy.
If you want to know more you could try this.

Dominus vobiscum, Reg.

I hope we sing it at least once but our choir doesn’t seem to like it much and they schedule “O Come Divine Messiah” more often. Of course there’s nothing wrong with “O Come…” other than it makes this Francophone gal long for her home parish where we’d be singing it in French.

I was lucky to get Quartette’s “It’s Christmas!” album that has Sylvia Tyson doing lead vocals on O Come O Come Emmanuel. I listen to it often during Advent.

Won’t happen. Didn’t happen last year either. Or the year before that. Considering when I first started at this parish nine years ago, they did sing it every Sunday of Advent. I don’t expect that we’ll sing any Advent hymns during Advent. We didn’t last year. The church may be decorated for Advent but the music doesn’t reflect it. It’s the same six songs over and over again and the music groups won’t learn anything new or sing anything appropriate for the season. If the one man had his way, we’d only be singing “Lead Me Lord.” For every song. And there is no talking to him. He’s one of the reasons I am no longer in a choir.

I am SOOOOOOO tired of that song. We will have it every Sunday, at every mass. 😦 Can’t somebody write a different advent song. I love the O antiphons during the octave before Christmas. I would prefer to here it then, and only then.

OK
Here we are – the 4th Sunday in Advent, December 19th, and the choir for the Mass I attend sang “O Come, O Come, Emmanuel” for the first time.
But …
  1. It was sung as a Communion hymn. (Very distracting.)
  2. The words were wrong. We use the CBW III and I find that they’ve ‘updated’ a lot of lyrics.

So far, it’s been sung at my church every week during Communion. I love this song, which makes it hard for me to concentrate on my thanksgiving after Communion.

If I remember correctly :hmmm:, we sang it each Sunday of Advent last year.

We did sing it today, and I’ll try to check back to let you know as the season progresses this year.
Yep, all 4 Sundays this year 🙂

No, sadly, we did not sing it at all this Advent. Instead. every single week, we sang the insipid refrain to the song our “worship director” wrote for Master’s “camp” (it was some month long summer program).
Basically, he would PERFORM his lines (which are not printed anywhere so we cannot join in if we want to) and then we are supposed to respond “O come, o-oh come”.
Pretty disappointing.
Then each week the recessional was Ready the Way led in funeral dirge tempo.
Ugh.

We sang it all four Sundays this year, and used all of the verses each time.

We also got to hear it a capella from our amazing choir 😃
