You are very blessed to come through the storm to find a good man!!
Would you please do me a favor and pray for God to restore our relationship? I want so badly to to be the leader and partner for her that God desires. I’m a new and on fire Catholic (Easter vigil 2008) and she’s a cradle Catholic. My RCIA teacher called me the second coming of Scott Hahn LOL!
lol–that’s funny!
I will keep you in my prsyers, for sure. I think that with God, all things are possible…providing that both people within the relationship have hope, and want the same things. And here’s the key–invite God in to changing their relationship. Praying for you! 🙂

Where is he in his walk? Well, from what he’s told me about his past, he dated a girl in a long term relationship who was a very religious, faithful Catholic. Apparently she helped him see what was important in life while he was going through a difficult time. Why they broke up exactly is unclear…he said it had something to do with her family but I’m not sure, something more could have been going on at her end.

At this point, he has gotten rid of some friends that were negative influences and appears to be trying to change certain behaviors. However, he tells me that I’m the only “real” Catholic he knows, so I suspect the other girl isn’t that into her faith. He wanted to be confirmed and asked me to be his sponsor…I sidestepped that last year when we weren’t really talking, but agreed sometime this spring and he was confirmed in May. I had taken him with me to confession a couple times and mass a few times, but rarely he has gone on his own. He wasn’t raised as a “weekly mass-goer”. He also makes excuses that he has to study and doesn’t have time, which is a whole other issue.

I think he knows that I still have feelings for him, and definitely knows that I did in the past because we’ve had that conversation. I believe he did/has them for me, too, just from what he says…again, mixed messages. If he was totally confident that we were just friends, he would have let me on his facebook right away (which he has since deleted, by the way…another long story) and would have been referring to the person I think is his girlfriend as “girlfriend”, not just “female friend(s)”. And, he wouldn’t have had to hide it from me.

So, I’m still debating this and have had stomachaches for several days due to stress from this and other stuff. Not fun.
(((February))) I’ll be praying for you. Just something to think about–if someone truly cares for you, he won’t want you to be hurting, having stomachaches, and stress. 😦 Can’t tell you what to do, but if it were me…I’d move on with my life…and allow myself to be available for the right guy to come along. I just don’t think he is it. :o

Cops have a phrase: Listen to your gut.

That’s what they were talking about. Stomachaches are not a part of a healthy relationship.

I feel for you…
I’ve got a differant view on your situation because I’m (KIND OF, repeat KIND OF) on his end of the stick. I’m not judging him because I sure don’t want to be judged. With that said, we judge the sheep from the wolves by the fruit that they bear. I’ve personally walked in the desert for a while and been blessed with some wonderful life changing growth. I’m so happy to be a new creation!!!

As I said before. Ask him to attend the Mass with you. Ask him to be involved with you in a Parish related activity outside of the weekend Mass. Ask him to pray with you and to do the daily reading from “One Bread, One Body” with you. Ask him to attend a weekday Mass with you. If he won’t do these things…PROBLEM! Because of my job I had the WONDERFUL opportunity to attend the daily Mass alone for about a year and participate in a weekly Centicle. IT CHANGED MY LIFE! By the way…(if I may quote Vinny Flynn) “just attending the Mass one day on the weekend just doesn’t cut it”…Father Larry Richards says that nothing is more important than the Mass. I’ll say a prayer for you two at Novena tonight.
