Advised against attending my first latin mass by a seminarian

(I can’t figure out how to edit or add to my initial post, so hopefully this will be seen by at least some of you who took the time to post replies.)

Reading the replies and following the subsequent branches of discussion have given me some very useful resource recommendations, and helped me appreciate why advice to not attend latin mass as a catechumen is the best way to protect early spiritual development.
Conversely, those who disagreed have also given me some great advice to avoid those distorting the teaching of the church.
I will definitely consult with the parish priest who I have had the most interaction with 🙂

That is fine, and I think I speak for all of us here, in welcoming you to the Church. If you decide later on that you would like to learn more about the Traditional Latin Mass, you have access, as do we all, to a massive amount of resources. God bless on your journey.
