The Archdiocese of New York is looking into explosive allegations that a top priest who publicly railed against our “sex-saturated society” had a long-term affair with his married church secretary.

Michael Daly: It’s not the sex, it’s the hypocrisy. It’s not whether Msgr. Clark had an affair with his married secretary. It’s whether he did so even as he sought to blame the decline in marital fidelity largely on Hollywood.

Do you think that they might have doctored the videos showing them together?

Ok it is in the New York Times will that be enough for you? You must register first and do a search on Monsignor Eugene Clark…and there you will see photos and story.

Someone has to supply the bird and hamster population with bedding… 🙂

Monsignor Eugene Clark…hasn’t he been on EWTN?
EWTN had scheduled a 2pm show today featuring the Monsignor talking about relationships.

The NY Post is the best for little animals to poop on. The NY Daily News is almost credible, but it is a better dropping catcher. There are those who would say that the Times works well in a cage, and they may have something there, but the Times definitely is the most trustworthy for news, of the three.

I dunno if it’s true or not. I hope it isn’t.

I’m a little curious, did anyone else say to themselves, “$70,000 to $100,000 a year as a church secretary?!?!?!?!?” or was it just me? I don’t mean anything salacious by it, I’m wondering how they could possibly justify paying a CHURCH secretary that.

Money is relative though. New York City is an EXTREMELY expensive place to live. $70,000-$100,000 a year is a middle-class salary there. Saint Patrick’s Cathedral is probably the most famous church in the US, making the land value around it go WAY up- and making any secretary position there more than simply answering a phone call saying someone is in the hospital or wants to schedule a wedding or baptism. Even his personal secretary would have a busy job, because Msgr. Clark does so much. I’m not sure the economy is so great there either. Maybe things have improved since 9/11/01, but I know the summer afterwards people with graduate-level degrees were working in fast food- the economic situation was that bad- and I doubt it’s improved enough.

I sure hope the allegations are false.

This seems like such a non-story to me.

Holy Orders does not free one from temptation. Priests can and do fall into sin just like anyone else. Even the Pope goes to confession.

Nor is it even hypocrisy. Hypocrisy is saying “it’s bad for you to do, but okay for me to do.”

Maybe it happened, maybe it didn’t. It’s none of our business. It’s between them and their confessors.

Move along, now. Nothing to see here.

Monsignor Eugene Clark according to breaking news on FOX just stepped down due to a sex scandal with a married woman. He is denying the charges lets pray for him.

I disagree with timidity.
If the Monsig. hired a young twenty year old woman.
Officiated her marriage…
and paid her a healthy income with Church funds for twenty-some years…and took her (a married woman) on luscious vacations…it is an issue.
Folks need to get smart.

How does one discuss it without committing the sin of detraction?

No need to discuss it. Time to hold the Bishop’s feet to the fire to have him do his duty. If true this is no worse a scandal then our clerical pediphiles. How sad for our Church.
