Boehner stated: “It is regrettable that the Obama Administration has opened this divisive issue at a time when Americans want their leaders to focus on jobs and the challenges facing our economy." Not sure how he could keep a straight face, since the Republicans seem to have spent most of their legislative agenda on their favorite moral issues and not on job creation.

The Republicans had a plan to cut 60 billion, including funding to Planned Parenthood.
Ending Abortion is a social issue that takes precedence over any jobs, and we need to cut the budget, because we are running on a huge deficit.
Second of all, Obama does not have the right to make a declarative statement on an act saying that parts are unconstitutional. Only the supreme court has that power. His job as president is to enforce the laws created by congress. Remember Checks and Balances?
We cannot allow our country to continue to be a land that kills its own children, or recognizes illegitimate “marriages.”
Third of all, the Republicans “inherited this mess from Obama”
If Obama can use that excuse, then so can the Republicans.

I think the Speaker is likely to eventually take some action to defend Section 3 of DOMA, but he hasn’t done so yet, and he hasn’t said what that action will be. He has simply agreed to convene the bi-partisan Legal Advisory Group (a five member group made up of 3 Republicans and 2 Dems). The Group (which he chairs) will probably do whatever he says, but he has yet to say what action the House will take. Boehner appears to be dragging out the decision to actually take up the case as long as he can…
