Hello dear ones,

I was part of the New Age movement for about 4 years and although I read about some very different versions of Jesus through these experiences, my love and closeness to Him as the Son of God never left me.

I have been feeling particularly lost the last 2 week-ends…where I am desperate to find the right spiritual home but nothing feels right. I even studied Judaism as Jesus was born and died a Jew and He is the most important person in my life.

UNTIL TODAY. I went to Avignon and I prayed for guidance as I sat in presence of the Eucharist. I asked Jesus to guide and I realized something tremendous.

Over this past year, 've had about 5 times of weeping intensely because I was missing Jesus – the only other experience that ever came close to this extreme mourning and longing was the loss of my father.

I realized today that every time it happened, it was in a Catholic church and today, it happened in front of the Eucharist. That profound sadness of missing Him was made more acute because something in me could sense Him in the Eucharist???

Here is the beautiful chapel of Avignon <3

It seems clear that the Holy Spirit has convicted your heart of our Lord’s presence. Where else would you go? You have already progressed well along the process of discernment. The next step would be to contact your local parish to inquire about the rite of initiation (RCIA).

Even though I have been in the Church for 30 years, reception of the Eucharist normally brings tears. In my case, the Lord’s mercy is made palpable.

I have the same experience during Holy Communion. I do not shed tears easily, I’m an INTJ on the MBTI assessment. But, My soul responds to the presence of my Lord.

Through my experiences, I do believe that His presence in the Eucharist has a profound effect on us. Especially at adoration and communion.

I will share something very personal with you. A few years ago I was very much going through a hard time in my personal life and having a dry spiritual life. I was still saying my rosary and my prayers and going to Mass but God felt very distant. During that time, while praying before Mass I told God how frustrated and sad I was and how I was at my wit’s end not knowing where to find Him. I remember asking “Where are You?”

I went up for communion like normal and when I returned to my pew and kneeled down this inaudible voice in my brain said “You found Me.” It was as clear as if my husband had leaned over and said it. I know this may sound nuts that I’m saying God spoke to me, but He did!!! I don’t know how else to describe it. I have never again doubted Jesus’ real presence in the Eucharist.

Remember our desire in seeking Him is only a reflection of the fact that He is seeking us…and He obviously is guiding you. Continue to seek Him in the Catholic faith. Of course I am biased because I as well came back to the Catholic faith and have found it intellectual, mystical and sensual, spiritual…all of the above but the Truth. Something the New Age movement doesn’t give. Plus the new age is actually the “old lie” from the garden of Eden that we can be “god”

Mary guided me back to the church through a set of rosary beads and the smell of heavenly flowers confirmed I was on the right track. Follow your intuition where He is leading you. The church won’t let you down. People may, but God will not.

And, even if we do not “feel” anything, our faith tells us the Lord is working in us when we praise and adore Him.

Was your father Catholic? Did you go to church together?

Perhaps being in the church reminds you of your dad?

.
Thank you for your response 🙂

He wasn’t religious actually. It’s really tied to missing Jesus and grieving for him.

God bless you!
