There are a number of differences. I’m not a “birther”, but he really was more “foreign” than either McCain or Cruz. Considerably more.

His father is not a U.S. citizen. No presidential candidate since Andrew Jackson had a foreign-born parent. Obama spent a good part of his young years overseas, including with his father. He has gone by two different last names. Relatives were produced who said he was born in Africa. And, of course, he is the first presidential candidate with a non-European name.

It wasn’t that odd for people to question his birth citizenship. What was excessive was their continuing to talk about it when the birth certificate was produced.

i got mine at 16 too in 1968.
 
When did he become a citizen of Indonesia? Is there a granting of citizenship document by the Indonesia government? BTW, school enrollment forms do not count as naturalization papers. If it did, than the whole question of US citizenship and voting would disappear in a week.

Why do you say he got a social security number from Connecticut?

It used to be that the first three digits of a SSN had goegraphical significance. maybe that is where it comes from?
 
There are lots of kids in the USA that are shown on documents from the USA. Does that mean they are citizens?
 
So Obama’s name on a school document is not absolute proof that he was a citizen of Indonesia, correct?
