Eye-popping new evidence is shining a new light on one of the most disputed cases of the entire Catholic Church abuse narrative.
Rev. Gordon J. MacRae and his attorneys have filed a motion for a new trial in New Hampshire based on astonishing new declarations.
The motion for a new trial contains multiple, uncollaborated signed statements from a number of people who were close to accuser Thomas Grover at the time Fr. MacRae’s 1994 criminal trial, and these statements indicate that Grover perpetrated a massive fraud in falsely accusing the cleric of abuse.

I’m one of many who have prayed for that.
He has been a great example even in prison.

I am wondering if he is still a priest in good standing since he had the conviction? And what will happen after he is released? I always feel that news stories have too little followup.

I can say that he has continued to say Mass in his cell, though this doesn’t answer your question of what will occur when he is released.

During his imprisonment he undertook an internet ministry with the help of others who believed in his innocence. He himself does not have access to the internet.
Some of the thoughtful articles that he wrote on an old typewriter:

Here are parts 1 and 2 of Wall Street Journal writer Dorothy Rabinowitz article about Fr. Gordon MacRae:

The case seems to have been dubious from the beginning.

Unfortunately, false indictments, false prosecutions, false covictions, and unjust imprisonment are not unheard of, especially when undue prosecutorial zeal and stubborness combines with media frenzy.

Rabinowitz previously wrote a book about the 1980’s and 1990’s cases of false prosecutions in which many daycare workers were convicted and sent to prison for crimes of child abuse which simply never happened. (“No Crueler Tyrannies” by Dorothy Rabinowitz)

In some case, when a prosecutor has personally decided on someone’s guilt, contrary facts become simply irrelevant, as the case is pursued single-mindedly to a pre-determined conclusion.

Almost took the words out of my mouth.😛 I read an article not long ago stating that there are a lot more priests in jail than people realize that did not do one thing. With the media’s help:mad: priests that were accused had lynch mobs waiting for them even before any verdict was given. Of course you didn’t have a chance in _ _ _ _ in the early years after 2000, if you were accused, you were guilty…end of story. There were however, miraculously enough, a few who were actually found innocent, the accusers being people wanting to cash in on Church money. Eventually the Blessed Mother will crush the head of Satan.👍

Just watched a tv documentary the other day recounting a case wherein police interrogators managed to elicit a false confession from a 12 year old boy. No lawyer, no parents were present. He was interrogated for hours on end, with suggestions as to how he might have done the crime and forgotten it. The mother, suffering from bipolar disorder, had given them consent to talk to her son. That’s all that was needed. The boy thought that his false confession would be overturned because they would not find his fingerprints at the scene, since he knew he hadn’t done it. The prosecutor didn’t care. They had a confession. It took several years for a lawyer to free him from a juvenile detention facility, and even then it was only on a blatant misrepresentation by a detective, not on a revew of the facts of the case.

When some one tells you that anything you say may and will be held against it, you’d better believe it. (In the 1980’s cases written about by Rabinowitz, if a child said that nothing had happend, that was presented by an “expert” as evidence that the child had been abused! And if the child said he or she had been abused, that was evidence of abuse as well!

I’ve completely lost faith in our justice system. A girl caught out late at night with her boyfriend says nothing to the cops. Cops take both kids home. Next night girl cries rape cause daddy is all mad. Innocent boy is convicted in 45 minutes, no rape evidence, just her word. 3 cops testified the girl looked and acted normally. Judge said he was a big kid and that was enough for him. Solid Catholic family, altar boy, parish priest pleaded. Judge never looked at the kid. Just convicted him because of his size. this kid’s life is over. He was 17, the girl was 14. she never shed a tear on the stand.

Once a priest, always a priest. The position of the Catholic Church is that ordination creates and indelible mark on the soul, like baptism, and cannot be undone by anyone but God. Not even the Pope can “unmake” a priest.

Are you claiming that these two did not have intercourse at all and yet he was convicted?? If your claim is that it was consenual, what do you propose SHOULD be the standard? Cases of date rape are very hard to prove by any other standard. It’s not that hard for the guys to protect themselves against false accusation. A “solid catholic boy” keeps his pants on on dates. If you don’t fornicate, you can’t be accused of rape. Lesson that all boys should learn!

In many states, if there was intercourse, it would be rape because, at 14, she cannot legally consent. Having said that, I have no idea of the facts in this case. Nor is it unusual for a case (of rape or otherwise) to turn on only the accuser’s testimony vs only the defendant’s. In such cases, there are convictions and there are acquittals. I am probably too jaded, but as many protections as there are in the “system” I’d guess that in these 1 on 1 cases, lots of guilty go free and lots of innocents are convicted.

sadly that is not true, you can still be accused of rape even if you don’t have sex. The rape kit had no evidence of any sexual activity, including the girl’s claim of anal sex. Both kids were fully clothed and sitting on the grass at a park when the cops found them. The girl wasn’t crying, wasn’t upset, beyond worried about getting caught out after curfew. The cop who took her home repeatedly asked her if anything else had gone on. This is what the 3 cops testified to.

Dad comes home, blows his top (rightfully) and next thing you know she’s crying rape. Mom of girl never came to the trial. Girl never cried or acted concerned and her description of what he did was beyond the ability of a human body to perform.

so yeah, some boys can’t protect themselves from false accusations. by the way, I got his age wrong. he was 16.

And you are right, it is an excellent lesson for young men. It went over so well that in our small school only 10% of the girls had dates for the prom last year. The boys chose to go stag. My 19 and 18 yr old sons won’t date. They told me it wasn’t worth the risk.

That’s fairly unprecedented if they were giving this priest wine to celebrate Mass as alc. for inmates is unheard of. I wonder if this means that prison officials have been doubtful of his guilt.

There certainly are some scumbag priests in prison who are indeed guilty of their crimes and I could’nt imagine them being provided with wine.

There are, as where they should be, hopefully forever. And…unbenounced to the common populous, there are a few in there that have been falsely accused and convicted…because of the witch hunt that occurred after 2002. People just wanting to get money from the Church. Those accusers should also spend an eternity behind bars.
