Good for that school. It’s nice to see that Catholic schools aren’t afraid of being Catholic and are standing up for what is right, and not popular. I commend the school for firing that teacher.

The decision to fire the teacher seems to have been Bishop Weigand’s. The school president, Sr. Helen Timothy had this to say:
Bain’s views on abortion did not surface during interviews and that she was unsure if they would have disqualified the teacher.
“We hire teachers for their talent and experience and she signed a contract with certain terms and conditions” to uphold Catholic values, Timothy said. “And during her employment at Loretto she was compliant.”
What is unclear to me is whether the teacher was volunteering to escort women into abortion clinics during the two months she was employed as a Catholic school teacher. Apparently the photo sent to Bishop Weigand was taken several months before the school year started.

Know someone who works for the school and I was told that a parent very involved in Right to Life recognized the the teacher from her time doing Sidewalk ministry. She was so upset that she brought it to the attention to the principal and the diocese. I have one guess about who sent the photos…
I just don’t know how this is going to pan out.

It makes me wonder if there was a hidden agenda for this woman to take a job a a Catholic HS in the first place. Trying to poison from the inside?

Could be. :hmmm:

I thought planned parenthood was anti-abortion.
Planned Parenthood is a health care organization that provides low cost/ no cost abortions to people at any of their abortion mills/clinics. they are the #1 abortion provider in the USA. They are Federally funded. They are a huge pro abortion organization.

Natural Family Planning (NFP) is the church approved way of spacing children in your family. It is anti-abortion and contraceptive. It is a technique and not a business.

Thought you might be confusing the names because of the “plan” in both the names. 😉

Peace be with you!

Good for that school! And good for that student that wrote the explanation of the article! God bless her and Bishop Weigand! We need good Catholics like this…especially in a state like California.

In Christ,
Rand

Good for the school, and prayers for the school. The press will be all over this, in a way which supports the teacher and denounces the school.

This week in NYC a story about a Catholic HS teacher fired for refusing to display the American flag in his classroom was a top news story, just after the local flooding, about 2 minutes into the broadcast. Of course, lots of attention and time was given to the teacher to discuss his feelings, and students supporting the teacher’s right to do as he pleased. Nothing was said of the duty of a teacher to follow the rules of the school which pays his salary. I couldn’t help but think there are plenty of more urgent matters that need our attention. If it was not a Catholic school I doubt it would have been aired at all.

planned parenthood is the largest abortion provider in the nation. click on any right to life or and-abortion website for the details, I will post some links right after breakfast which I have to eat because this entire thread is making me sick. Bad enough to promote murdering babies as social policy, but to teach this evil to the young under your care is an added abomination. ah, I see Jeffrey has prolife links as part of his signature

To me the most interesting aspect of this arises from the disjunction between the story as reported in the newspaper and the student’s take on it from the inside.

According to the newspaper the girls were upset and in tears at the loss of the teacher yet the only people quoted are the teacher taking over from Bain and the principal Sister Timothy. No student is actually quoted as saying they were upset to see her go.

According to the student however there was a general indifference to Bain’s departure and a query about Sister Timothy’s response per the newspaper given the school’s policy of dismissing any student (and presumably any teacher) who advocates abortion. Clearly Bain did this in her letter to the Bee.

It is clear from this that the media has an agenda and is presenting the whole thing as a heavy handed action by the bishop and trying (with no real evidence) to make it appear as if the teacher was loved and adored by students and staff alike. This abuse of reporting to push a line (often with no self awareness on the part of the reporter) is one of the great dangers of the media of our time and all the more reason to support bloggers who persist in drawing attention to the hidden media agendas.

You know, I just don’t understand the motivation in someone working for an organization that they diametrically oppose, then wanting to sue them because they fire you for diametrically opposing them  Why not get a job with a school that tolerates pro-choice activities? Oh no, that would be too simple. Instead, pick a Catholic school, out of all the schools available, in spite of the fact that there is a teacher shortage last time I checked in California!

Frankly, this is active evil. This woman doesn’t just have an opinion. She is actively working to undermine those who are pro-life. I’ll bet she’s said things to the kids too.

I think the teacher is going to sue the Diocese!
Hopefully the diocese had something in the terms of employment that an employee can not, through their actions, bring scandal to the school/church and/or that employment can be terminated without notice at the discretion of the bishop.

Although there are other abortion providers, Planned Parent hood is the most infamous.😦

I agree with your first paragraph, but the second paragraph isn’t based on fact and is just your supposition. This is known as slander when speaking and libel when publishing. I don’t think we need to make up things about this woman when we don’t know all of the story. I do agree that it is strange for somebody so pro-choice to work in a Catholic school.

…which reminds me that I’ve been meaning to look up which it is when posted to an internet message board like this. Libel or slander? Does anyone know?
