…which reminds me that I’ve been meaning to look up which it is when posted to an internet message board like this. Libel or slander? Does anyone know?

I didn’t know either. It seems like a message board is more like talking, but then again this stuff is “out there” for all the world to see, so maybe it is libel even though it isn’t officially published.

I looked up Slander ( en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slander ) and here is the jist of it…
Defamatory communication in writing is termed “libel” while one made via the spoken word is termed “slander”.
Then there is malicous intent and if the statement is reasonably believable. Like if I siad something ridiculous that no one could believe was really true, it may have been a falsehood about them but not libel or slander. Don’t go thinking I think pornography is okay…This is a famous case that I think is a good example.
 
New info: The girl has just been expelled from the school. :confused:

Anna, this is unfortunately some young women might think because of the word “Planned” very much liike Natural Family “Planning” The should call it was it is “Culture of Death Center” :hmmm:

It would be nice if she stated on her blog the reason for her expulsion not just that she was expelled. I for one would like to jnow both sides of the story!

Then I refrain to comment further as the school may of had a valid reason to expel her or she may have a valid reason to sue them.
 
I don’t quite understand why she would be expelled for turning the teacher in? :confused: There has to be more to this story…
 
I am going to ask around to someone behind the scenes and find out why she was expelled. Barring legal reasons, I will let you all know.–Rebecca
 
William K. Weigand, the Bishop of Sacramento, is a very good bishop.:clapping: This entire episode was handled just as such situations should be handled. I wish i were back in Sacramento. There is even a Priestly Fraternity of Saint Peter Church in Sacramento, the Catholic Church of St. Stephen, the First Martyr. There are wonderful Tridentine Latin Masses every day with a high mass on Sunday.

This situation with the Loretto High School does remind me that on the question of school vouchers, we could end up with a situation where the government could impose restrictions such that this teacher might have to be retained in a similar situation in the future. Catholic schools need to remain separate from the government or the government will control the Catholic schools.

what does as the blog state having her mom banned from school or supporting the stance of a teacher at a “Catholic” school who volunteers at an abortion clinic be fired…how do these things qualify for expulsion???
 
It seems like a retaliation expultion. I don’t get it either.
 
She was teaching at a Catholic school… Catholics believe that abortion is wrong… that teacher volunteered at an abortion/murder clinic/mill. Thats why she was fired. I applaud them for doing so.
