Have we ACTUALLY heard why this girl was expelled? If not than how do we know that the school did not have cause??
No. Clearly a lot of people are just going on without any facts.:tsktsk:

I understand where you folks are coming from. But…

Fact 1. The principal should have fired the pro-abort without dragging her feet until the Bishop got involved. The fact that she didn’t speaks volumes.

Fact 2. The pro-life student was expelled after the pro-abort was fired. This fact combined with fact 1 also speaks volumes. They didn’t want to fire the pro-abort. The Bishop forced them to.

Message to the rest of the student body:
“Girls don’t rock the boat. Abortion is here to stay. If you rock the boat, bad things will happen to you. Us Catholics have to learn to tolerate baby killing. Besides, we can’t let that guy in the black robe tell us what to do.”

This doesn’t seem right to expel someone from a Catholic school for practicing the Catholic faith? It does seem difficult to beleive and outrageous if it were true. Generally, I would be opposed to expelling students from a Catholic school for the only reason that they are practicing the Catholic religion. The only conclusion that I can think of is that those who are in charge of the expulsion had lost the Catholic faith, at least partially, and do not want students to practice their Catholic religion. If this is so, why should Catholic parents waste their money and send their children to Catholic schools, when they are going to be expelled for practicing the Catholic religion?
Stanley:

There are now 2 threads on this issue, and I’ve read nothing on the two threads that has caused me to doubt that to be the case.

What I’m afraid of is that what appears to be a smear campaign by Loretto or friends of Loretto and that this being turned over to the courts may very well cause Kathelyn Sills to lose her faith.

If that happens, this will be worse than tragic, and Sister Helen will have to answer for her role in this on the Day.

Please pray that cooler heads prevail and that this is resolved without this going to the courts and without Kathelyn having cause to lose her faith.

In Christ, Michael

The case was reported on “The World Over” on EWTN. Loretto is claiming that Kathelyn (who is barely 15) and her mother were intimidating people in the school, something which is disputed by Kathelyn and her mother.

These facts are beyond dispute:

Mrs. Sills took photos of one of the teachers at Loretto working as an escort at a Planned Parenthood Abortion Mill. She showed these photos to Kathelyn who then went to Sister Helen and told her what the teacher was doing. After Sister Helen said she had to see proof of the wrongdoing (nothing wrong in that), Mrs. Sills then showed her the photos of teacher working as a “Deathscort” and asked what she planned to do about it.

Sister Helen refused to take action, at which point, Mrs. Sills threatened to go to Bishop Wiegand. Mrs. Sills did go to Bishop Wiegand who did the only thing Ex Corde allowed him to do, which was to tell Sister Helen that she needed to fire the teacher in question.

In early Oct., Sister Helen fired the teacher who had worked as a “Deathscort”. At this time, Kathelyn began to have conflicts with her fellow students, most of whom have been identified in the Sacramento Bee and other papers as being “Pro-Choice” and friends of the teacher who was fired. Those conflicts were never resolved, and the Staff at Loretto never intervened in them.

Shortly thereafter, Mrs. Sills was banned from the grounds of Loretto High School. The ban remains in effect.

On Oct. 29, Kathelyn Sills received notice that she was expelled from Loretto High School via Registered Mail. At no time during this process did Sister Helen talk to her to tell her that there was a problem or to say that she was considering her expulsion.

During the following week, the National Media and the “Blogasphere” picked up the story of a student who, by all appearances, had been the subject of a retaliatory expulsion.

It was only then that Loretto or the friends of Loretto began to allege that there was some sort of problem with Mrs. Sill’s conduct and then Kathelyn’s conduct.

I’ve pieced these together as best as I can, and apologize in advance for any errors.

I can only say that, if this is an accurate representation of what happened, the situation and the conduct of the Administration of Loretto stinks.

Even someone who is a problem student deserves to be expelled in a more humane way than by Registered Mail. My brother was a problem student (and that’s putting it lightly), and my parents and I would have been incensed if he had been expelled in that manner. That was the first thing I reacted to.

I thought CATHOLIC Schools were supposed to do better than that - I guess I was wrong.

I remember the only time anyone ever got expelled at my Catholic middle school was when he brought a knife to school. (It wasn’t me, though I did get in trouble for bringing a toy gun once, but it was a Transformer. Stupid Megatron…)

Pending the outcome of this girl brandishing a weapon at school, I’d say thus far this smacks of retaliation for making them look bad…

You may just have hit the nail on the head, and very sadly so.

I’ve seen nothing to convince me otherwise.

Pray this doesn’t cause some fragile young Catholic to lose her faith, and pray that Sister helen comes to her senses and is able to repent of this error.

BTW, what’s this business of sending the Expulsion notice via Registerd Mail?

My brother was a PROBLEM STUDENT, and I don’t any school would have dared to even think of expelling him by mail?

I though we were supposed to be better than that, not worse!

My strongest memory from first grade was wielding a cap gun pistol and running wildly around a tree shooting it off with my cowboy hat on. The next year, I started in Catholic schools.
