Somebody still has not explained to me at any rate how Christians could believe in Mary’s sinlessness for over 1000 years (and we’re talking ‘written’ evidence; add oral and it’s closer to 1500 years) such that even the first ‘founders’ of Protestant denoms themselves still believed in that same doctrine, but that somehow those groups, reading the same Scripture their founders and predescessors had read, found a ‘totally different’ interpretation.
Despite contentions that Church Father Z in one epistle said Mary may have had a venial fault, or that there is no guaranteed Scriptural passage that states Mary is sinless in 2007 standard Protestant English usage, etc., when confronted with the sheer totality of written work which supports her sinlessness and the clear and concise Scriptural exegis which likewise supports it, from Old and Testament alike. . . the overwhelming evidence is that Scripture, interpreted authentically through the Holy Spirit, teaches the sinlessness of Mary and has done consistently for nearly 2000 years.
Only a handful of men, in a ‘p(name removed by moderator)rick’ of time, ‘cherrypicked’ Scriptural passages to support their own, inauthentic, noncontextual and biased theories which were specifically formulated not to ‘develop doctrine’ but to destroy anything which might be seen as “papist”. . .anything which promoted the idea of clergy, or a single authority, or ‘denied’ the false reformation doctrine of the Calvinistic we-are-all-dung and doomed crowd which would specifically be interested in portraying Mary as the ‘prototypical’ dung-and-doomed-nothing-but-incubator-thing that has (sadly) been the ‘norm’ for far too many Protestant teachings. . .
