First off, I was wondering what you all think about the new Star Trek Discovery compared to the other Star Treks and just in general.

By the way, try not to spoil it for those who have not yet watched it. Or you can also blur spoilers with a special function on the (name removed by moderator)ut screen where the little gear icon is.

Another question I’d like to ask is, how many of you watched Star Trek Enterprise? I ask this because it is the one Star Trek version that I never could get interested in and I want to know others thoughts. Maybe some of the episodes are great and I just have to stick with it more?

Anything else you want to discuss is welcome.

Blessed Early Easter greetings to all!

I give it 1 star out of five. I can not comment further without spoiling it for others.

Hi Jamal,

I could never get into the original series.

I really liked the original movies with the cast from the TV series, though. I thought that they were really a lot of fun, and I really enjoyed seeing them.

My husband is more of a fan of the TV series than I am, and he still likes to catch reruns of the original when he can.

We currently don’t have cable, so we haven’t had a chance to see any new series, but we’re thinking about picking it up again, possibly.

A candid assessment, I must say. 🙂

Do you know how to blur paragraphs?

This is an example of a spoiler paragraph that can be employed through the function that I mentioned.

I would be curious to know how many episodes you watched.

(By the way, you can click on the blur above to see what it says.)

No, but I will look up on how to blur, but I watched the entire season.

Well, it must not have been completely terrible. lol Unless you’re the kind of person that starts a horrible book and finishes it just to finish it. lol

That depends on how horrible the book is, and how bored I am.
I was hoping the series would improve, but it did not.
I thought the show focused to much on the same sex couple, and view that as an attempt to normalize such relationships.
This is my two bits.

Yes, it’s annoying, but I kind of take that as par for the course on most any major network production. It was pushing an agenda, but I didn’t ponder it that much.

I’m watching the last episode right now, so nobody spoil it. 🙂

I think I would give ST Discovery somewhere between 3.5 and 4 stars out of 5.

Most of it, I liked. It’s definitely the Star Trek for 2018. If one expects it to be like past versions of ST. It’s quite different.

I wonder if I should not put this thread in moral theology. Traffic here seems slow. 🙂

So, anyone else here think DS-9 was really lame?

I watched all of the first season of Discovery.

I would give it maybe about the same rating you gave, @JamalChristophr - 3.5 to 4 stars out of 5. I was a bit disappointed with the way they wrapped things up in the finale. It seemed rushed and contrived to me.

I don’t know if I’ll re-subscribe to CBS All Access for season 2.

Seems like a fair assessment.

I watched the whole season in 3 days, so ummm…guess that was not the epitome of temperance. 🙂

Seems like endings are always incredibly difficult. But yes, could have been better, I suppose, could have been worse. I watched the whole season 1 on a 7 day trial so it was hardly a loss for me.

Thanks for sharing.

I think the characters are all pretty good. Seems like there is plenty of room for the show to go as far as possibilities.

I really just wish I didn’t think ST - E didn’t suck so much.

Was that a double double negative?? oh well, I think you know what I mean. 🤣

I keep hoping that I am just wrong, but it generally did not go over well with anyone. I didn’t like the sexual themes introduced into STE.

Agents of Shield is still my favorite Sci Fi.

Daisy would make quick work of poor Michael, but it’s not really a fair fight. Then again, Michael might have a trick up her sleeve. They’d be on the same side, of course. Silly bird that I am.

Oh wow. I was in the hospital back in September when the show premiered, so I watched the first episode on the (comparatively) tiny hospital TV, on CBS. Then when I got home I signed up for CBS All Access. I cancelled after the mid-season finale, and then waited a few weeks after the second half premiere before re-subscribing again.

I was not disappointed by the show. It did take me about two episodes to warm up to it a bit, however.

For me, DS-9 seems like a soap opera. I need more action and adventure, and I don’t like that Pheringie. Does that make me a xenophobe? Or someone who is prejudice against annoying people with ears from a horror movie. etc… etc.

Star Trek Discovery is great and being old I have followed all Star Trek tv series and movies since the beginning.
On the internet movie data base (where people review tv series as well as movies) it has a rating of 7.4/10 from more than 47,000 reviewers.
Rotten Apples show an 82% approval rating.

Anyone who is a Star Trek fan and says they don’t like the new series should head to the doctor’s for help.

🤣🌷

Happy Easter all you Trekkie lovers.

I think you meant Rotten Tomatoes. 🙂 It’s a good reviewer. STE got poor reviews there, little wonder.

Many story lines I’ve seen before, so it can be hard to be too orignial for people that watch a lot of sci fi, but I am glad to have watched it. I think it has a lot of potential in the future.
