Arthra,

You put :

Surih 4:

154 And We caused the Mount to tower above them at (the taking of) their covenant: and We bade them: Enter the gate, prostrate! and We bode them: Transgress not the Sabbath! and We took from them a firm covenant.

155 Then because of their breaking of their covenant, and their disbelieving in the revelations of Allah, and their slaying of the prophets wrongfully, and their saying: Our hearts are hardened - Nay, but Allah set a seal upon them for their disbelief, so that they believe not save a few -

156 And because of their disbelief and of their speaking against Mary a tremendous calumny;

157 And because of their saying: We slew the Messiah, Jesus son of Mary, Allah’s messenger -** they slew him not nor crucified him, but it appeared so unto them; and lo! those who disagree concerning it are in doubt thereof; they have no knowledge thereof save pursuit of a conjecture; they slew him not for certain.**
  1. Speaking against Mary? Who?
  2. “They slew him not for certain” ???
Luke 24: 25- **How **foolish you are, and how slow to believe all that the prophets have spoken! 26 Did not the Messiah have to suffer these things and then enter his glory?” 27 And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he explained to them what was said in all the Scriptures concerning himself.

Jesus talking to his own disciples. So, what’s going on, with Sirah 4?

It’s a mess, quite frankly, what your point is , and for all intents and purposes the Quran is not clear what it is meaning.

Martin,

Thanks for your post!

You asked about the Covenant that was broken?

References in (An-Nisa) Surih 4:

154 And We caused the Mount to tower above them at (the taking of) their covenant: and We bade them: Enter the gate, prostrate! and We bode them: Transgress not the Sabbath! and We took from them a firm covenant.

(A reference found in Exodus 31:13)

155 Then because of their breaking of their covenant, and their disbelieving in the revelations of Allah, and their slaying of the prophets wrongfully, and their saying: Our hearts are hardened - Nay, but Allah set a seal upon them for their disbelief, so that they believe not save a few -

(a reference found in Hebrews 3:8 and Luke 13:34)

156 And because of their disbelief and of their speaking against Mary a tremendous calumny;

(Found in the Qur’an Surih (Maryam) 19:27-28)

*27. At length she brought the (babe) to her people, carrying him (in her arms). They said: "O Mary! truly an amazing thing hast thou brought!
  1. “O sister of Aaron! thy father was not a man of evil, nor thy mother a woman unchaste!”
She was accused of unchastity.

157 And because of their saying: We slew the Messiah, Jesus son of Mary, Allah’s messenger - they slew him not nor crucified him, but it appeared so unto them; and lo! those who disagree concerning it are in doubt thereof; they have no knowledge thereof save pursuit of a conjecture; they slew him not for certain.

As to the reference earlier in Luke…My mistake…🙂

That would be Luke 23:46 not Luke 24:36 the last words of Jesus as cited in Luke…

The last words of Jesus on the cross according to the Gospel of Luke translated in the Jerusalem Bible read:

*…and when Jesus had cried out in a loud voice, He said, “Father, into Your hands I commit my Spirit” with these words he breathed His last.
*
~ Luke 23:46

What does the Qur’an say?

4:158* But Allah took him up unto Himself. Allah was ever Mighty, Wise.*

So hope this helps you!👍

Who was accused of unchastity?

What conjecture? Who is believing in conjecture?

You have to be careful when quoting Bible verses. And it appears you have forgotten that you mentioned 22:46 (not 24:46). Again be extra careful.

4:158 is direct opposite of Jesus own words though in Luke 24. It seems the Quran or you have not understood what is in the New Testament (experience of the Church with Jesus) after Jesus’ resurrection.

Luke 24 : 13 Now that same day two of them were going to a village called Emmaus, about seven miles[a] from Jerusalem. 14 They were talking with each other about everything that had happened. 15 As they talked and discussed these things with each other, Jesus himself came up and walked along with them; 16 but they were kept from recognizing him.

17 He asked them, “What are you discussing together as you walk along?”

They stood still, their faces downcast. 18 One of them, named Cleopas, asked him, “Are you the only one visiting Jerusalem who does not know the things that have happened there in these days?”

19 “What things?” he asked.

“About Jesus of Nazareth,” they replied. “He was a prophet, powerful in word and deed before God and all the people. 20 The chief priests and our rulers handed him over to be sentenced to death, and they crucified him; 21 but we had hoped that he was the one who was going to redeem Israel. And what is more, it is the third day since all this took place. 22 In addition, some of our women amazed us. They went to the tomb early this morning 23 but didn’t find his body. They came and told us that they had seen a vision of angels, who said he was alive. 24 Then some of our companions went to the tomb and found it just as the women had said, but they did not see Jesus.”

25 He said to them, “How foolish you are, and how slow to believe all that the prophets have spoken! 26 Did not the Messiah have to suffer these things and then enter his glory?” 27 And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he explained to them what was said in all the Scriptures concerning himself.

I’m afraid the Quran doesn’t connect with the above.
