Most of the older churches have a high altar with a large crucifix on the back wall.
If one uses a freestanding altar, positioned in front of the high altar a smaller crucifix is on the altar. A processional cross should be removed from sight but us often left to the side.
That is my understanding as a sacrastin.
The Pope also lamented the non use of the larger cross by the priests,he was told it blocks the view of the celebrant.
Note the size of the crucifix in the picture you provided.
That is what my pastor does as well. There is a large wall crucifix on the back wall, and he has a small crucifix on that altar facing towards him. The processional cross is placed out of sight during Mass.

My parish has a crucifix over the high altar and a crucifix (facing Fr. Mark) on the altar.

Pope Benedict encourages the practice for all Masses that are not said ad orientum. The reason given is to remind that priest that he is not facign the people, but facing Christ.
He does it then as a teaching moment, although redundant since he is holding Christ in his hands, but as pope he does as he pleases.

But facing the crucifix would have a different meaning than facing Jesus in the Eucharist, would it not?

The crucifix is a symbol of Christ, like a photo, The eucharist IS Christ.

Yes, and the crucifix is a reminder of the one sacrifice being made present again in each Mass that is offered.

Which is the reason for the large crucifix place in the sanctuary.

How about when there is NO crucifix? Behind the altar at my church is a Risen Jesus. Typically the altar boy has a crucifix in the procession and puts it off to the right of the altar during mass, which I believe iss ok. For the last two weeks there was no altar boy, hence no crucifix at all.

There absolutely must, as per rubrics, be a crucifix. As has been repeated ad nauseam here, a Risen Christ is not a crucifix, because it does not show a figure of Christ crucified. Please try to get things fixed. Perhaps you can offer financial help or otherwise give some direction to making a crucifix happen.

But that crucifix is not visible to the priest, unless he is saying Mass ad orientium, hence why Pope Benedict encourages the us of an altar cross for priests who Sa Mass versus populem

So…here is a question that has bugged me…or someone I know. We have a crucifix on the wall behind the altar. The processional cross is a Risen Christ…is that acceptable as it is placed out of the sanctuary and the one behind the altar is indeed a crucifix?

Anyone?

As long as there is a crucifix in the sanctuary, the requirement is met. So your church is well within requirements.
