I see the “E Pluribus Unum” is missing. That should have been a tip-off that something was wrong.

I saw this on the news and was stunned. Who was in charge of the background images? And did they know this was a parody seal meant to mock Trump?

I am honestly curious as to how something like that could have happened. It’s so outrageous that I wondered if it was a doctored image… until I saw the video and realized it was legit.

Just wow.
 
I would call it the hacked seal that some not very discerning people have pranked and gotten away with. woe betide them when they get found out. Its pretty disrespectful
 
Saw this a few days back on another news outlet. The Turning Point organization claimed that they were told only a few hours before the President’s appearance that they would have to put the Presidential seal in the background of his talk, so according to them, they rushed to get a high-res graphic of the seal off the Internet, and whoever downloaded this one according to them did not notice it was a parody of the actual seal. Yeah, likely story. They also said the seal was only up for 80 seconds and the staffer responsible was fired.

It is odd that not a single member of the President’s staff was paying enough attention to notice. It is not as if this were a small thing printed in the corner of a program, it was projected on a wall and was large and not a single staffer caught it.

ETA, I have not read the 80 second then fired story, looking for that one.

The question was “why didn’t the President’s staff notice”. It’s pretty obvious that somebody noticed pretty quickly if the seal was taken down within 2 minutes time. It could take that long for a staffer to make their way to the back of the room to speak to the AV guy.
 
The double headed eagle is the symbol of the Byzantine Empire, not Russia. The Russians only got it after their conversion to Christianity. So it’s not a specifically Russian symbol at the root. But maybe a lot of Russians today have no problem with reinventing history and telling us Jesus was born in Moscow and the bicephalic eagle is his battle flag for the great glory of the great Russia.

“Curious” and “how” are the two operative words.

“How” it happened has much to do with the President and his team’s lack of being “curious”.

Curiosity is what prevents fax paus like this.

But, its understandable.

The President and administration show no curiosity about Russian interference in elections, provocative acts by North Korea, the possible existence of Global Warning (and the list goes on and on and on).

So, if he and his group doesn’t pay attention to big issues, why would you think they would have caught the doctored seal?

Sometimes you get what you inspect, not what you expect, and when you don’t inspect it shows a lack of curiosity which give cause for the how.
 
Actually, I think it is not due to a lack of curiosity, but more a result of not paying attention to details. It’s as if the saying “the devil’s in the details” is an adage that has no meaning anymore.

Please, prove me wrong. Can you tell me a few things the President has done right?
 
It’s been the bane of live television since the very beginning. I think it’s sad that someone got sacked because of an innocent screw up.

I guess we can add to Louis B Mayer’s great statement “Never work with children, animals … or Presidential seals”.
 
Someone had the job of closely monitoring all objects used in the vicinity of the POTUS for the event.
Serious error - responsibility heavy - could have been much worse.
 
I was tired when I write that. All I was trying to point out is that Trump is not that bad. Only if you are able n the left wing cycle, They say Trump is worst than racist. But to common folk like my self, he is not that bad. Sure he is rude. But racist misogynistic and the whole plethora of words said, they push people like me away from the left.

I voted for Gore, then Bush second term, then I could not vote for Romney and Obama seem superficial to me. But I still liked some of Obama’s policies. I could not vote McCain and Obama was pushing hard left.

When I say I am centrist. I am. And the left has lost me. Trump is rude but not racist or any of those other things. But policy wise, seems I only disagree with part of the immigration policies and Death penalty. Otherwise. He is not that bad.

Not sure who “they” are, and I’m not sure about “worst [sic] than a racist”, but using the defense that he is not “worst [sic] than a racist” seems to say being a racist is somehow not as bad as he could be…sorry, it just doesn’t pass the smell test.
