A Evil person is one who commits evils acts and sin is evil,

What part am I missing !
So we’re all evil? After all, we all sin.

But then, even a very sinful person likely has some redeeming qualities, so are they also “good”?

Evil and good are too black and white to describe an individual. We’re all mixed bags.

The truth is that every Catholic in the world accepts the church teachings through their own eyes. I don’t like the term “Cafeteria Catholic” because I think it’s insulting. In the end, we’re all in this together and what someone believes privately about this or that issue is on them. I know that won’t be a popular view, but it’s how I feel.

But…I can’t bring myself to call people who do these things EVIL.
They’re not evil.

There are two sides of dissent from Church teaching. The most common view contraception as a part of responsible parenthood. It can go beyond responsible parenthood as there is a lot of talk today about willfully having no children and children only being the result of a deliberate choice to get pregnant. But even with the rejection of that, there is still this sense of managing one’s family size so that one is better able to take care of the family.

Humanae Vitae affirms responsible parenthood and only affirms large families as responsible parents if they act in prudence and generosity. Unfortunately, a lot of people just take Humanae Vitae’s statements on prudence and generosity as praise. But that is not the case.

The other side of dissent has to do with a rejection of prudent responsible parenthood. And generally, this has to do with two older teachings: the marriage debt and marriage being a remedy for concupiscence. This lends to the idea that abstinence is an occassion of sin. Usually St. Paul is quoted, and abstinence thus should only be from mutual consent so that the marriage might serve the purpose of preventing masturbation or adultery.

This is actually a part of rape culture and feeds into eras where rape wasn’t acknowledged in marriage because it was considered immoral for the woman to refuse her husband. It’s insanely demeaning.

What the Church affirms today is that ALL are called to chastity according to your state in life. Abstinence in NFP is not an evil, but the good of the sexual relationship in marriage will challenge the couple’s motivations to avoid pregnancy. They will not want to needlessly harm their sexual intimacy for petty reasons.

Will there be a temptation to sexual sin in marriage? Yes. Always.

You admit that sin is evil @John121. So do you consider yourself evil because you, a sinner, sin?

But…I can’t bring myself to call people who do these things EVIL.
Nor do you have to call them such. Man is not exclusively evil; he is made in imago Dei, in the image of God, with a free will to choose good. Man is also not exclusively good; he has the stain of original sin, concupiscence, the propensity for and tendency toward sin.

Not that we’re Manichaeans, thinking we are bifurcated beings, good AND evil. We have the potential for both. So no one is said to be evil in their self, but committing evil acts.

yes I present myself as a evil person the bible describes us as wicked even the smallest sin to us is a enormous sin to God in the eyes of his righteousness.

im not happy with the earths existance the bible says don’t curse but bless your enemies yet Adam and eve were cursed with every one else after them to me this is not right and as a result of this people are being tortured every second of every day in Hell.

Come on, John, lighten up a bit.
Things are going to be okay.
Confessions are being conducted every day.

in 2010 33% percent of the world confessed Jesus as Lord which is a requirement to get into heaven !

OF THIS PERCENTAGE 33% LESS THEN HALF RIGHT NOW WOULD MAKE IT !

so will say 15% of people and im being generous will have the opportunity to go to heaven.

what do you think happens the rest ?

John, I can only control what happens to my soul.
I will pray for everyone else. 🙏🙏🙏

Non christians that aren’t christian due to external factors (e.g. they aren’t in contact with any christian communities) can also be saved.

But…I can’t bring myself to call people who do these things EVIL. Misguided or confused, yes. But evil to me means a malicious attack or deep desire to harm. Even those actions could be considered misguided.
Who told you to call people evil?

I hope you will be strong enough to make it but my concern is people are not been giving a chance to really understand the truth of the matter.

example 6,316 people die each hour were do you think the majority are going ?
the answer is to be tortured, since most people either do not listen and even those that do, do not listen to church doctrine, on temporal punishment so have no chance of getting remission from purgatory.

people laugh at the idea of getting indulgences or think they don’t exist any more the scary reality even religious people don’t know the severity of the reality of the world

people who have no herd the truth can be saved I agree but they will spend some time being tortured in purgtory.!

To be honest, I have not idea where these folks are going.
I pray that the majority of folks who die each day get better than what they probably deserve.
I am not the deep thinker that you seem to be.
I try to live the best life I can, go to confession, and pray for everyone else.

“Evil” with respect to persons kind of loses some of its impact then, doesn’t it?

I find that it’s just unneeded to call people evil.

The Bible also says those who trust in man are cursed, Jesus says only one is good God.

You are not going to understand or agree with church teaching at once, OP. But it’s strange how the Holy Spirit works in you. All I would say is keep going to mass. That’s what helped me. Mass is life changing. I’m only a year down the line from you but I have seen God dealing with stuff in my life bit by bit

You don’t know that. Only God does.
