Based on what you’ve posted and in my opinion as someone who was a long time Cafeteria Catholic… no. You are not a Cafeteria Catholic. The fact you’re even asking that question and the reasoning you’re giving is a good sign you’re not.

yes I present myself as a evil person the bible describes us as wicked even the smallest sin to us is a enormous sin to God in the eyes of his righteousness.

im not happy with the earths existance the bible says don’t curse but bless your enemies yet Adam and eve were cursed with every one else after them to me this is not right and as a result of this people are being tortured every second of every day in Hell.
You didn’t answer my question. Do you contend that everyone who commits a mortal sin is an evil person?

in 2010 33% percent of the world confessed Jesus as Lord which is a requirement to get into heaven !
It is not requirement, it is very much nice to do that, and it helps a lot, but people have survived falling out of airplane without parachute, if you know what I’m saying.

God can save anyone in their good and right conscience, not just Catholics, not just Christians. It is simply that by being Christian and Catholic, you are pleasing Lord and your love for him should grow, therefore your reward is loving the Lord. Also, being Christian (and Catholic especially 🙂 ) helps you get to Heaven, and assures it.
Is Heaven full of Catholics? Yes, because in Heaven everybody converts to Catholicism
Is Heaven full of people who were Catholic in their life? Nope.

Don’t worry, trust God and try to lead to him as many souls as you can- especially your own soul. Leave it to God, He is merciful, He is all-knowing and all-good, He will do everything He can to help everyone.

But you were revealed truth of religion, therefore you have some clear responsibilities towards God, do not neglect them- God is supremely merciful, but he is also supremely just. Justice is a good thing, and God is all-good. There’s a mix between mercy and justice in God, so do not overdo your impression with either of those. Do your best and have hope.

Lastly, by your own good deeds you can help other people get to Heaven. So perhaps you can help save others, be it those in Purgatory that need a bit of a push to Heaven, or those who will see an example in you. We are limbs of God, we do His work and He uses us for His supreme will- and that includes salvation of world.

Evil is the absence of good. An act may be evil, but that does not imply there is no good in the person.

But…I can’t bring myself to call people who do these things EVIL. Misguided or confused, yes. But evil to me means a malicious attack or deep desire to harm. Even those actions could be considered misguided.
People who do these things are not automatically evil. The church does not teach this.

They acts might be considered “evil acts” that that doesn’t make the person evil.

Depending on the definition used, all forms of lying is “evil.” Well almost everyone tells white lies from time to time… does that mean that everyone is evil? Of course not.

Our sins do not define us. What’s in our heart does.

So to answer your question, “am I a cafeteria Catholic?” I have seen nothing in your post that tells me that you are.

God Bless

Then you are wrongly judging everyone as evil and will be judged as you have judged us.

If you wish to consider yourself evil, @John121, fine. But God has placed His goodness in me. Therefore, I am not evil. He has placed His goodness in my fellow Christians, both Catholic and Protestant. They are not evil. His goodness is in all people whether they know of Him or not. Therefore, none of us is evil.

You claim to want to be a priest (or a billionaire). Before you become either one, learn to discern good from evil. Otherwise, you will lead many astray with your views and be responsible for the fate of their souls as well as your own.

Yes every one who commits evil is a evil person !
John, Again, Please contact your health care professionals and make an appointment to see them ASAP. There are concepts and issues here you are expressing that are beyond the CAF forum and hence any responses to your comments could cause you a great deal of unhappiness.

To the OP , apologies for going off topic

You should talk to a priest because the Church does NOT teach this!
Under your strange thought process if I commit a mortal sin today then I am an evil person but if I sincerely repent and receive absolution at Confession tomorrow I am no longer an evil person.

FWIW, even several saints experienced or thought worse for lengthy periods.

I suppose that the struggle to be better also matters.

You’re a better Catholic than you think you are. It’s great you don’t think of them as evil.

Sinners aren’t evil. They’ve been influenced by true evil, Satan, to commit sin, and it’s up to Catholics like you to look past their “evilness” and call them back into the family.

Perhaps I have missed it, if so I apologize in advance. Could you please give the Bible verses you are referencing?

Romans 3:10

None is righteous, no, not one;
11 no one understands;
no one seeks for God.
12 All have turned aside; together they have become worthless;
no one does good,
not even one.”

Paul is simply using various verses in the Old Testament to show that man, by himself, cannot achieve righteousness. From the Haydock bible commentary
here is not any man just,* viz. by virtue either of the law of nature, or of the law of Moses; but only by faith and grace. Ch. — The apostle here adduces a series of passages from the ancient Scripture, to convince both Jews and Gentiles, that not one amongst them was just, nor had any title to glory, on account of his good works. Not that a just man could not be found under the old law, or even before the law; an infinite number of passages of Scripture will shew the contrary: but he must be understood as speaking of man left to himself, as a son of Adam, conceived in sin, and brought forth a child of wrath.
He cannot be saying that all men, certainly not those baptized are wicked: From the CCC
Baptism not only purifies from all sins, but also makes the neophyte “a new creature,” an adopted son of God, who has become a “partaker of the divine nature,” member of Christ and co-heir with him, and a temple of the Holy Spirit.

Yes we are cleansed under grace and under grace we cannot be called evil !

The Catholic Church calls no one evil. We hate the sin, not the sinner. Try to understand the reasonings for these teachings. Congrats on your journey to the Catholic Church!
