Wait what happens if there is no danger of death? Is it a sin?Danger of death ONLY.
I know that every baptism that is done with proper form “I baptize you in the Name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit” and with water is valid. The Holy Spirit comes and lives in that person. Literally God’s Spirit. That’s true even for Protestants. Even for Protestants who think they receive the Holy Spirit the moment they believe.Yes it is allowed.only in danger of death. I believe if there was no danger of.death it is.not valid. However I would recommend you to talk to a.priest to give you an.accurate answer as we don’t know.the details.of.the situation and.Our.answers here may not.be right. Go to your local.church and.check.with your priest.
Yes, it is sinful. Especially so if one does so against the parents’ will, e.g. grandparents baptizing their grandchildren in the tub.Wait what happens if there is no danger of death? Is it a sin?
I baptized my small daughter when she was sick. There was no danger of death that I was sure of, but it was in the middle of the night and I was thinking “just in case.”
No, it is valid even without danger of death; the person cannot be baptized again. But it is highly illicit. Violation of the Church’s law has a moral component, and is therefore sinful.Yes it is allowed.only in danger of death. I believe if there was no danger of.death it is.not valid. However I would recommend you to talk to a.priest to give you an.accurate answer as we don’t know.the details.of.the situation and.Our.answers here may not.be right. Is there any point at which it becomes a grave sin?Yes, it is sinful. Especially so if one does so against the parents’ will, e.g. grandparents baptizing their grandchildren in the tub.
I.am.not.sure. May be illicitI know that every baptism that is done with proper form “I baptize you in the Name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit” and with water is valid. The Holy Spirit comes and lives in that person. Literally God’s Spirit. That’s true even for Protestants. Even for Protestants who think they receive the Holy Spirit the moment they believe.
Do you mean illicit? It might be illicit. But is it a literal sin or just illicit?
If there were uncertainties I am surprised he didn’t do a conditional baptism.I.am.not.sure. May be illicitthat is why I am suggesting her to speak.with a.priest. I had with my own daughter an odd.baptism.situation. When I first spoke.with the priest he thought that my daughter needed to be.baptized again but after a little.more.digging he said.it.was valid but that my daughter was not a member of the Catholic.church. So it seems.that in my daughter’s case circumstances player a role.there. But because every situation may be different I think her best bet would be to.speak with a priest.
Grave sin yes. Mortal sin, depends on whether you know you are breaking Church law.Is there any point at which it becomes a grave sin?
Why would you not simply take them to the priest to be Baptized in the first place? If there were uncertainties I am surprised he didn’t do a conditional baptism.
I baptized both of my daughters but just to make sure they were validly baptized I was planning on having conditional baptisms done. That way there can be no sin, from my understanding, and there can be a certainty of valid baptism. I am not certain if this is appropriate or not.
It likely is a grave sin already on its own.Is there any point at which it becomes a grave sin?
As FYI:Danger of death ONLY.
“Urgent necessity” for baptism, given the definition of the sacrament, is the imminent loss of the salvation of the soul. This means danger of death ONLY.As FYI:
The Catechism actually says “In case of necessity”
But does not define what necessity is.
St. Thomas Aquines also says in “cases of urgent necessity” in the Summa Theologica

I think that is a very charitable.thing to do. I also know.a.labor.and.delivery nurse who has done.several baptisms in danger of.death of.newborns who.died.minutes or very soon after being.born.My girlfriend has done 3 in the last 6 yrs. All were near death.
