I work at a cell phone store and I had a customer come in. He told me his phone was shut off. He is under his parents plan. So, I called to figure out what the issue was and the lady told me the phone was suspended for being lost or stolen. Obviously, this was not the case. His mother apparently called Sprint last night to have the phone suspended due her being mad at her son.
I was asked if he wanted that suspension removed and he wanted it off so we proceeded. I think the lady I talked to thought he was the main account holder and not the son of the account holder (who is the father). Though, I did say “his mother…his mother”. So she assumed he was the main account holder regardless.
After getting the line turned back on, he proceeded to get his own plan and a new phone…
I feel like I committed a sin. I should’ve said I couldn’t do anything without permission of the account holder, but I didn’t for some reason. I feel like I may have committed a serious sin, but not sure exactly what.
I guess the argument was she was angry that he hadn’t answered her call the day before. I guess the father thought it was silly for her to do that, but I do not know other than what I heard from the son.
Did I commit a mortal sin or am I being scrupulous?
