The fear we have in confession is totally unfounded. We are afraid of shocking the priest or of saying something that may be so terrible that the priest will not forgive us.
The priest has heard it all, all of us have sinned. More than likely your sins are no worse than anyone elses. Many only go to confession every few years. I was once a lapsed catholic for over 10 years, after that long there is no way to remember all your sins.
No one is perfect, only Jesus and Mary can make that claim so welcome to the crowd. We are all working on our faults. Some may be further along, but for most it is a lifetime struggle to conquer all our bad habits. Work on one at a time if you can’t get rid of all at once, sometimes that will help you not be so overwhelmed.
Perfection is a long ways off, so maybe one step at a time may be a bit easier. Never give up hope and never quit trying and never quit praying or asking for forgiveness. Focus on Christ and not on your sins, remember Jesus can conquer all sins even the ones that you think are so terrible. Everyone has traveled the same road that you have.
