Am I Missing Something In the Eucharist?

Edward_H, what a beautiful prayer!

Stuart, you’re not alone. I’ve never experienced any sort of “different feeling” after Communion. But I KNOW that it is the Real Presence and that’s what matters the most. I try not to go to church with expectation of “getting something out of it,” but rather to “give myself as something” for God.

Funnily enough, I usually feel an overflow of grace when I go to Confession- feelings of peace and comfort and even tears- maybe that’s the Holy Spirit telling me I need to frequent that Sacrament more often…which I’m trying to make a conscious effort to do!

Some of the mystics have used an interesting expression; very helpful to me.

When we believe in His Presence in the Eucharist, we comfort Him. We’re capable of comforting Our Lord because He also had a human nature. Mind boggling act of love for Our Lord to design a way for us to do that for Him…because it helps us (!) get closer to Him when we do it!

Is God a super genius or what!

Hi!

Once again, thank all of you for your encouragement. I understand much better.

Stuart

My DEAR friend,

I’m 73 and a lifelong Catholic; and for many years I was able to attend daily Mass as well as Sunday Mass; and I can count on the fingers of one hand the number of times I “FELT” the Divine Presence. WHY is this?

It is precisely because LIFE in God’s Design is the “GOD TEST”

God loved US so very much that HE sent His SON Jesus to earth.

Jesus then was born in a stable-CAVE; lived in poverty, and suffered and DIED for us in the most gruesome & humiliating [He was stripped NAKED before being NAILED to the Cross] manner that evil men could devise ; thus proving His LOVE for us.

NOW it is our task to PROVE time and time again our Love AND our Faith in Him.

READ please Isaiah 43: verses 7 & 21; and take special note of the word “MIGHT”; which is in tended to affirm all that I have shared here.

“And you shall be hated by all men for my name’s sake: but he that shall persevere unto the end, he shall be saved.” [Matthew 10:22]

PRAY daily for an increase in FAITH

After receiving Jesus; just KEEP saying : THANK YOU JESUS, Thank you Jesus…

God Bless you

Patrick

Try participating in adoration. Speak with your parish priest.

However, what is more significant? PRAYER. Prayer is the only way our faith will increase, and without prayer, our faith will obviously plummet. So, I urge you, brother, pray and thank Jesus, especially during the time of the Eucharistic Celebration.

I really liked the time tested method, explained by PJM.
He says, “PRAY daily for an increase in FAITH”

Probably from my 9th Grade onwards when the Bread and Wine is raised up during the Eucharist, i pray ( as suggested by another ),
INCREASE MY FAITH , MAY I BE ABLE TO EXPERIENCE IT, BE ABLE TO PROFESS IT, ME & WE THE POOR SINNERS”
Yes I and We need him to increase our faith in him. Because only God can increase it, He shall grant it especially when we earnestly yearn for it.
And our joy shall be ensured.

The best counsellor is Jesus. Try conversing with him before the blessed sacrament even during Adoration. It is a great experience.
If there is a method to record our conversations, it would be great to listen, when played back.
I recall the gems that i could get during the conversations, They are worth treasuring.
It is a parallel. Recalling the dreams of yester-night,

There are several day today experiences that shall be bestowed on the SEEKER to reinforce one’s faith in the Eucharistic Lord.
Signs hall be obtained, when God wills it. TREASURE THEM, DO NOT LET THEM BE FORGOTTEN.

Halleluia.

After I receive Communion I spend some time quietly talking to Jesus … this usually helps me understand and feel the wonderful experience I have just had.

Every time I hear the word “feelings” I think of that sappy lounge lizard song “Feelings”… Is that all there is…

You have had some good advice, so I won’t repeat it.

But one small comment. We do not “take” Communion. We receive it. Sorry - that bugs the daylights out of me, as it is a very common comment.

Hi OTJM,

My apologies, I’m still learning the ropes.

Stuart

Not to worry. You have a whole lot of company who says the same thing - and they have been around longer than you.

Yes what most people .think… maybe…

In the last 10years .only 2times was there any spiritual anointing at the mass I attended.
But its not feelings… But anointing.

1 cor.2. Saint paul describes the effect of this.

But you are supported to believe what you are told and taught.
Because you can not trust yourself. So have to believe what other smarter people tell you about your experience.
Weird huh?
