Am I within my "rights" to only receive from the Priest?

Tim, yes, you’re right about that. I too doubt if I will ask for the person’s credentials. “Where did you say you became a Eucharistic Minister???”

The point is that we are receiving Jesus’ Body, which was given up for us.
Personally speaking, I don’t care who is giving this to me, as long as I am receiving it.

Back to basics, I guess we could call it.

This is a right that has actually been spelled out (twice) by the current pontiff.

You are receiving the authentic body and blood of Christ whether it is from the priest’s hands or from the Eucharistic ministers hands.

That’s not the point of what I am asking. I already know this, as I stated earlier. If my parish trained a gorilla to give out communion it would still be the Body and Blood of Our Lord, but it wouldn’t be appropriate even if the rubrics don’t strictly mention “no gorillas at mass”.

But my question has been answered despite the usual off-topic assume the worst about people questions posting. Thanks to all those who posted.

I find it insulting for the Female Minister. Sincerely, I do not see, how come someone may refuse to take the Holy Communion from a Lady. It’s paying more attention to the Minister than to the Communion. And on what grounds to refuse? Maybe in America would not be used the word “ridiculous” but here in Portugal it would be the immediately used. Cheers.🙂
 
When I go to recieve the eucharist, I only recieve from the priest. After all, HE consecrated it. I stopped recieving from EMHC’s for a couple of reasons,
  1. A couple of them gave me nasty looks and attitudes because I recieved on the tongue( one was a nun!!!).
  2. Many do not believe in the real presence which I think is ridiculous for a them to be even distributing holy communion in a Catholic Church.

I would say you have a right to *not *receive from an EMHC – That is: You are completely capable to *not *join the processional line to an EMHC.

Beyond that it is up to you (i) whether to make your way to a processional line of an ordinary minister and (ii) in extraordinary circumstances, when ordinary ministers are prevented from distributing and rely completely on EMsHC, whether to abstain from partaking.

Nothing requires you to receive at every celebration.
