I thought Druids like to honor trees. All Hollows eve has many aspects to it.
“After what appeared to be the offering of prayers by participants, who prostrated themselves on the grass around a blanket upon which fruit, candles, and several carved items were set, an indigenous woman approached the pope and presented him with a black ring, which appeared identical to the one she was wearing.”
Amazon Synod: Ecological ritual performed in Vatican gardens for pope’s tree planting ceremony quote from link.

Headlines are noted in this secular world to be many times misleading. That’s how they sell their thoughts. (Title has been changed by moderator…and did a fine job.)

The Druids are not the people of the Amazon, not at all. But Liberation Theology is a Druid. The only thing to be liberated from is sin.

“The ring appeared to be a tucum ring – a black ring worn in Brazil and Latin America as a sign of dedication to certain social causes, and often associated with liberation theology advocate Bishop Pedro Casaldáliga.”
From article link.

Your opinion it is an agenda. I see it as the work of evil disguised as a good.

I see it in an opposite way. I am not pushing an agenda, but certain people are pushing their agenda of Liberation Theology and have been doing it for decades.

I’m not sure if liberation theology has anything to do with the Amazon synod, it probably does, but liberation theology has been a movement in the Church since tha 1970s. It started in Latin America.

Someone who has the ability – PLEASE amend this thread’s title. The story itself is making the rounds in Catholic media and probably deserves discussion. But no one will find it thanks to the title of this thread and starting a new thread would be repetitive.

@camoderator

It is referenced in the article itself and it has already been quoted in the thread.

Fr Z has condemned this as a pagan ceremony. I reserve judgment but assume the best. Reading the comments on Fr Z’s blog, however, shows that this and similar lead up to the Amazon synod has some folks on the Catholic right jumping into the deep end… stuff like “he’s a heretic…” “he’s no longer the valid pope” etc…

There is a YouTube: YouTube
that seems informative, but leave it to the American’s on this panel----we are just so-in-the-face of others and aggressive in our words, but that is what we are as a people —we get things done. Every culture has a gift and a weakness ---- just listen to the non Americans…they are much more pleasant to listen to.

Participants sang and held hands while dancing in a circle around the images,
Pope Francis remained seated in a chair outside the group throughout the ceremony.
Not every ceremony that the pope attends is going to be a winner.
After witnessing the ritual, Pope Francis set aside his prepared remarks, opting instead to offer the Our Father without comment.
