I am flabbergasted! Anything to make a buck I guess. Maybe they could even sell common sense, IF THEY HAD ANY!!

NEW YORK — Amazon is selling a self-published book defending pedophiles, sparking discussions about the retailer’s obligation to vet items before they are sold in its online stores, and threats of boycott from Amazon customers if the book is not removed.

The book, " The Pedophile’s Guide to Love and Pleasure: a Child-lover’s Code of Conduct" by Philip R. Greaves II, offers advice to pedophiles afraid of becoming the center of retaliation. It is an electronic book available for Amazon.com Inc.'s Kindle e-reader.
 
And so it begins. In ten or twenty years the catholic church will be derided for denouncing the very thing it is today accused of supporting.
 
I started a thread encouraging all to boycott Amazon for the sale of this garbage. I sincerely believe that they will lose MUCH more money than they will make off of selling this “book.”

I am not surprised. The family is being destroyed and I predicted this step in an earlier post. Now people are shocked but give it another 5, 10, 50 years and people will be called “intolerant” or “bigots” because they don’t believe these people should act on their “natural” urges toward children.

Step 1: Artificial birth control and the rise of pornography: the degradation of the human person. People are no longer viewed as children of God and the dignity that is appropriate of a child of God; they are reduced to objects of pleasure.

Step 2: Breaking down families. Abortions are encouraged, especially if a teenager gets pregnant so she doesn’t have to be “punished” and carry the child to term to raise herself or give for adoption. The rise of birth control and over-sexualization of television leads people to fornicate with no intention of marriage, and do cohabit, which has a high failure rate and divorce rate. 50% of babies born in 2007 were born to unwed mothers. Many of these children will never know their fathers and are already born into broken homes. Giving children for adoption is discouraged, so there is a high number of married couples waiting to give the children a home, but the waiting list is ~7 years because of abortion and women choosing to bring children into broken homes. Also, the divorce rate is very high and it used to be that divorce was rare. Divorce is also easy to get (“no fault”) and before you had to jump through hoops and make sure it was the best decision to live separately.

Step 3: Gay “rights.” Instead of getting the people the help they need, homosexual acts are seen as “natural.” 75% of gay men had problems with their fathers growing up. They need male friendship, but homosexuality is not the answer. In fact, many men have left homosexuality after being friends with a Christian man who did not judge them and led them to Christ. Homosexuals have shorter life expectancies than smokers and many of them get certain kinds of anal cancer that don’t respond well to treatment, so this isn’t just about religion.

Step 4: Sexualization of children. We already see this with many adolescent kids, but nowadays we have videos of pre-pubescent children doing very risque dances on YouTube. Parents either do not watch/teach their children, or they think it’s cute, I guess. Now, in Massachussets, one of the first states to legalize gay marriage, they are now talking about distributing condoms in a K-5 elementary school (approx. ages 5-11). And the complaint isn’t that they are available, it’s that they’re not easy enough to get because the kids have to ask for them and they’re not just out on a table or something!

Step 5: Everyone has the right to have relations with whomever or whatever they choose. Marriage has lost all meaning. It used to be a lifelong commitment between a man and a woman and the family they would raise together. Instead, it can be whomever and however long or short a person wants. First the gays, but then there aren’t really two sexual preferences are there? Incest will be accepted (there are already cases of father-daughter who’ve had a baby together). Children and animals will also be okay.

This really is a slippery slope we are standing on. I think a big problem is that the Church is seen to be an organization that hides and condones pedophilia, but the said priests were already waiting to go to trial, and the total convicted priests is 0.4% or 0.7%. The vast majority of priests are not like that. We need to change the policies so nobody is left alone with another person’s child, just like the Boy Scouts did when they had similar problems. Cleanse the Church so people will be led toward the faith, not away from it. Right now, almost everyone knows that these things are wrong. But later after more time passes, people might think nothing of it.

Sure, a self-publishing company might not be aware of this vile thing at first, but now they are aware and have refused to pull it from their line, citing censorship. Ridiculous, since their own policies state that they do not publish E-books which are illegal or objectionable.
 
Exactly! This has nothing to do with free speech; it has EVERYTHING to do with free enterprise! Amazon can pick and choose what to sell on their site, no one is forcing them to sell this disgusting garbage. They will lose more money than they will make peddling this to child molesters.

“Amazon issues guidelines banning certain materials, including those deemed offensive. However, the company doesn’t elaborate on what constitutes offensive content, saying simply that it is “probably what you would expect.””

Really? I “expected” better from Amazon. What a slap in the face to all victims of childhood sexual abuse.

I never had a problem with Amazon offering customers what they want even if it’s immoral, but this is way, way, beyond the pale.
 
Wow, that’s very disgusting… It also doesn’t change the fact that most people will find it disgusting, and that I will continue to shop at amazon, as it’s the only place for me to find specific books I want for as low as a penny, and because boycotts don’t actually work, legitimate complaints DO.

Also “Amazon believes it is censorship not to sell certain books simply because we or others believe their message is objectionable,” it reads. “Amazon does not support or promote hatred or criminal acts, however, we do support the right of every individual to make their own purchasing decisions.”

Ya know, as the article also points out, Amazon sells a lot of other things that aren’t exactly of the best nature.

Anyway, have fun with your boycott.
 
I have a petition in the making to boycott Amazon.com for this. I made an error on it so I can’t make it public just yet. Please wait a bit!

Thanks. I would rather pay more at a book store that doesn’t sell how-to guides for pedophilia, than pay less and have a guilty conscience.
 
In response to my request to close my amazon account, I received a reply saying the book was no longer for sale.
 
Thank God! Amazing, it seems the complaints and boycott did work, imagine that.

I’m still not sure if I will continue buying from Amazon because it is ridiculous that we even had to ask them to take it down.

They withdrew it only after they first defended it, then knuckled under to huge public pressure.

Btw, diapers.com was just acquired by Amazon this week and is not happy:

Diapers.com is a leader in online baby sales and (was) a rival of Amazon, which also has an online baby store. Now, even though Quidsi, Inc. will continue to operate independently, Amazon will dominate the online baby category.
Well, that was Amazon’s plan, until it made a huge mistake. It was discovered this week that Amazon was selling a self-published e-book titled “The Pedophile’s Guide to Love and Pleasure.” You read that correctly. The creepy author says his book is his, “attempt to make pedophile situations safer for those juveniles that find themselves involved in them.” In his book he shares tips on having sex with children.

Diapers.com, whose customers are moms and dads, issued a statement on its Facebook page saying, “Hi everyone. While our parent company has been purchased by Amazon.com we have NO control over what is sold on their site. If there are any complaints or concerns please send them to Amazon.com.” Comments from their fans were not good. Many said they could no longer do business with Amazon, which means they will no longer do business with Diapers.com.

Amazon added to the boycott list.
Won’t effect them much though as I haven’t bought anything from them in years. I prefer ebay.com
 
Can I point out the obvious here? How do we know this wasn’t a sting? (Like what Perverted Justice/‘Dateline: To Catch a Predator’ did.) A major online retailer would NOT be this stupid without law enforcement activity going on behind the scenes. In all likelihood, Amazon already gave the feds the IP address and customer info of anyone who purchased it. Consequently, the pervs are likely already behind bars and eating cornbread as we speak. Good riddance.
