Sounds like you’re falling trap to sola scriptura, we are not protestants, we have a Magisterium and a Pope, to clear up our own interpretations that often leads us to come to a false interpretation when we rely on our own individual private judgments ( that ultimately ends up justifying many sins for instance; divorce, promiscuity, adultery)And no, I am not asking permission for anything. I simply do not find your reading of it persuasive when looking at history.
