American catholicism and support for Israel?

Speaking from the bible alone, God divorced Israel, even Judah, more than 2000 years ago for spiritual fornication. It says it right in the bible. Jesus said that he would hand the kingdom to those who produce fruit. So the “chosen people” claim makes no sense for modern Israel. I am speaking from the bible alone and not the external evidence.

Jesus only allowed divorce in the case of adultery, and marriage reflects the covenant. If there was spiritual fornication, as said by the prophets, how can the covenant still apply?

thank you all its been interesting to observe the polar opposite opinion present in americanism regarding the war criminal rogue state Israel.

America & Israel together feel like the great liberators of people. liberating brown peoples with “wrong religion” from the pain of being alive, as evidenced by the 1 Million Iraqi human lives lost in the Iraqi war.
For every Israeli life goes 33 palestinian lives.

“There are no palestinians” they say, but there are definitely native peoples being ethnically cleansed for the benefit of a european racially supremacist ideology.

Ive seen the newsbroadcasts in the US and its ridiculous how one-sided the reporting are.
When people are brainwashed they off course get angry when someone mess up their reality bubble.

I wouldnt think american television would ever show a documentary like “tears of Gaza” as has been done all over Europe

I’ve seen all things who get to America being modified into being compatible with the Empire’s idolatrous ideology of materialism and narcisism.

You are living in the Great Babylon, Christianity as seen in America exists nowhere else on earth & this probably holds true for catholicism too. We know the lands of the Great Babylonian empire has been fertile ground for all kinds of sinful fruits in the church.

I pray for the quick and complete collapse of the US & EU empire.
Your vituperative accusations of murderousness and racial supremacism are unwarranted.

You accuse others of oversimplifying matters and then pour forth this frankly staggering moral reduction that does you no credit, and can be of no use to you in critically appraising anything, let alone an enormously complex situation far away and full of murder and sadness. Your tirade is (ironically considering who it is aimed at) redolent of foreigners pouring petrol on the flames of the troubles in Northern Ireland on the basis of things like “common wisdom” in their country, or some documentary they have seen which people who live in NI would consider ridiculous. A phenomenon, by the way, which largely only contributed to the place being more hellish and unpleasant for ordinary people. 😦

As for your chart, it is a running joke among the largely BBC-loving middle class in the UK that the beeb regularly creates or picks out “statistics”, and even picks phrases like “general concern” and “widespread disapproval” out of the air in its news coverage that tell 90% of the country they are the last lunatic fringe on any given topic, you know. 😉

Auntie’s entirely neutral social engineering is viewed with cynicism (formerly affectionate cynicism, although it’s more rampant than it used to be) - and I think like many British things, foreigners fail to pick up on the undertones/overtones. That 16% for the UK is… seriously hilarious - and since the BBC agenda now involves supporting gay marriage, supporting islamism, interfering in foreign conflicts and constitutional matters etc., it naturally follows that the hilarity becomes global.

Anyway, even ignoring that, I can’t help feeling a little less bile and a little more thoughtfulness is called for.

Some would-have-been Palestinians have.
The official, popularly-elected representatives have on their greater behalf. This includes both Fatah and Hamas
Unlike us, our Lord can pick out which is which with perfection.
G-d sometimes punishes the entire group; good and bad together, just as he rewards the entire group sometimes. Man isn’t an island unto himself. We are judged as individuals, but we are also judged as collectives- as nations, etc.

It doesn’t surprise me one bit that you would be anticipating the collapse of whole societies -it actually makes sense considering the fact that you side with terrorists.

…by the way, why is it you consider yourself a Protestant and not a Christian…? Could it be that what is most important for you is what you DO NOT support -as in the fact that Preotestant refers to those who protest the Catholic Church. Why not just call yourself a Christian…? Or is that too Jewish, being that Jesus was a Jew? 🤷

Maybe you’re embarrassed to be considered Christian? 🤷

Speaking from the bible alone, God divorced Israel, even Judah, more than 2000 years ago…
Then it sure is a “coincidence” that what sure looks like Biblical promises like Ezekiel 36-37 are coming to fruition before your very eyes.

I mean- there have been numerous other examples in history of a nation being exiled from their land for nearly 2000 years- to the 4 corners of the earth- and not only did they not disappear, not assimilate, but actually returned to their land as was promised in their holy books- right?

Name a few.

Can’t? OK, then name one (besides the nation of Israel).

And the biggest "coincidence’ is that hundreds of millions of Israel’s enemies haven’t managed to prevent it.

I think we all can agree that G-d is the G-d of history. So if it isn’t His will, then how is it happening?

I have a good idea… Maybe the Jews in Israel should start planting liquor Stores and selling margaritas in little one way in-one way out ‘oasis’ on the edges of their boundaries to lighten up the Palestinians a little bit.

I think they need to get wasted away in Margaritaville a little more often… ;). Would that calm them down a bit? 😃

Alcohol is haram; forbidden for Muslims.

There’s no reason to support every single action by Israel. Not even every Israeli supports every policy its government puts into place.

Israel’s history is messy. Kind of like our own here in the U.S. Some of the actions committed by the Haganah were absolutely repugnant. Borderline terrorism committed against Muslim and Christian Palestinians, as well as members of the United Kingdom who oversaw the British Mandate.

Some of the actions committed by Israeli armed forces during the 1948 war were nothing to be proud of. Then again, we in the U.S. have our own checkered history with our battles against American Indians, the Spanish in 1898 and even going over the line during total war like the bombings of Dresden during World War II.

Like I said, Israel’s past and present is messy. But there are some pretty clear facts. The Palestinian people had the opportunity to get a homeland of their own in 1948. They opted against it. They and the Arab League chose war. They LOST. And when you lose a war, you lose your “right of return.” The West Bank is not part of the old British Mandate of Palestine. It was part of Jordan. When the Palestinian people were kicked out of what is now Israel due to losing a war of aggression against the Israelis, they occupied Jordan. And it’s not like the Jordanian people wanted them there either. Go look up the events of Black September.

Israel’s very existence was supposed to come from a peaceful negotiation. Palestine would have been a place since 1948 had the people of Palestine and their Arab neighbors accepted it. They chose war instead. And they chose to launch repeated wars against Israel after that too. They lost every time.

I’m not excusing every action Israel has taken since then or even before they became an independent nation. It’s messy. Some of it was quite immoral. Some of it was justifiable self-defense. But what is pretty clear is that the Palestinians have no one to blame for their lack of a homeland but themselves. They could have chosen to accept the 1948 borders. They chose war. They could have accepted repeated attempts to negotiate peace, including good-faith attempts by their own leaders. They instead chose to vote for a terrorist organization, Hamas, to head up the Gaza government.

I have some level of sympathy for the Palestinian people. They were used as pawns for decades by the rest of the Arab nations that wanted to sweep the Jews into the sea. But they chose at each turn to go along with their Arab neighbors instead of saying that they’d take the deals that were put on the table. That’s what happens when you align yourselves with lunatics like the Saudis, Iranians, Syrians and pre-Sadat Egyptians.

Israel is without doubt the belligerent nation in all conflicts throughout the Middle East and it is therefore the most dangerous nation in that region.

Most knowledgeable Roman Catholics condemn utterly Israeli policy and condemn utterly American support for Israel.

The objective Palestinian statehood is a legitimate one under the 1948 United Nations agreement and whether this sees a two state solution or a single state solution will need to be decided.
I was heartened that the United Nations voted to recognise Palestinian Observer status at the UN by a very large majority
I don’t think you should speak for most Catholics. Perhaps if people were living down the street from you lobbing rockets and interested in nothing more than your utter destruction you might have a different attitude. A Catholic who is anti-Semite is also anti-Catholic.

I see. And a “Palestinian” would probably get his tongue cut out if he were caught drinking it.
So much for that idea I guess…🤷

I heard that was how the English were able to get so much land from the native Americans -which explains why it is also forbidden for Navajo Indians to drink alcohol.

Well put. The Palestinians are not interested in peace. Just ask Hamas.

I think there are plenty of Palestinians who are interested in peace. And not just peace on their terms. But there are many others who have no interest in it whatsoever. They are quite vocal about it as well and use violence to intimidate others into locking arms with them.

And terrorism plays right into the hands of Hamas too because they launch an attack, Israel responds and “regular Palestinians” get mad when Israel responds. Neutral observers can understand the response but you can’t really be a neutral observer when it’s your neighbor’s house that gets smacked with a missile from Israel or a rocket from Gaza.

As Obama Sets Out for PA, Gaza Terrorists Attack Sderot
A rocket fired at Israel from Gaza caused heavy damage to a house in Sderot Thursday morning, Israel Radio reported

A rocket fired at Israel from Gaza caused heavy damage to a house in Sderot Thursday morning, Israel Radio reported. Police rushed to the scene to inspect the damage and to determine if there were any injuries.

Two Red Alert warning signals were heard in southern Israel Thursday morning, as U.S. President Barack H. Obama prepared to depart Jerusalem for Ramallah for meetings with top Palestinian Authority officials. One was heard in Sderot, and the second was heard in the Sha’ar Hanegev area near the Gaza border, Israel Radio said.

There was no confirmation of damage from the second rocket. Police are investigating. Two other attacks were reported, but the rockets apparently fell on the Gaza side of the border fence…

Wow! That just happened this morning?

Where do they get the rockets from?

If I answered the truth as to why Israel exists despite the Jews being divorced by God I will be accused of antisemitism again. That is a good question that has a politically incorrect answer. This requires knowing history.

Even some Orthodox Jews are anti Zionist because it was established for political reasons. God did not regather them to Israel.

False analogy, the state of Israel is on someone else’a land, a proper analogy would be him evicting someone from their house and that person’s family attacking him.
Would you please tell me when there was a country called Palestine. Not a piece of land but a country recognized by the world. INCLUDING ARABS !

You forgot to mention the Christian churches which have been desecrated in Israel and the fact that clergy get spat upon regularly in Israel by the zionist/jewish natives.
And what about the Christian churches that are bombed by Muslims? And what about the people that are shot or beheaded for being Christian. The behavior of the few radical Jews is not representative of the population at large. Of course…many Americans are clueless…many get their news from MSNBC. It’s a favorite of Al-Queda. That came out when bin laden was killed. 👍👍👍
