Pope Benedict has appointed six Americans to serve in various capacities on the Pontifical Council for the Family.
The Pontiff appointed Cardinal Seán O’Malley as a member of the dicastery’s presidential committee and named an American couple-- Dr. John Grabowski and his wife, Claire-- as members. An alumnus of Franciscan University of Steubenville and Marquette University, Dr. Grabowski is Associate Professor of Moral Theology/Ethics at the Catholic University of America’s School of Theology and Religious Studies. A theological advisor to the US bishops, Dr. Grabowski has written the foreword to an English translation of Pope John Paul’s general audiences on the theology of the body. The Grabowskis are the parents of five children.
