A quote from the article:
In addition, the executive director of Amnesty International USA has called on foreign governments to seize and prosecute American officials traveling abroad, just as a Spanish judge attempted to prosecute former Chilean dictator Augusto Pinochet in 1998.
If Amnesty International USA did say this, this is a direct attack against officials of the US government. If this happens, they should be named as a terrorist organization and all members arrested for sedition.

Here’s a good article about Amnesty International:

EXCERPT:
Amnesty International’s irresponsible charges

Dennis Byrne, a Chicago-area writer and consultant
Published May 30, 2005

By labeling the U.S. anti-terrorism prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, the “gulag of our times,” the people of Amnesty International must think we’re stupid or ignorant.

Stupid or ignorant enough to fall for the assertion that whatever is happening at Guantanamo is the legal and moral equivalent of what happened in the hundreds of slave labor and concentration camps scattered throughout the former communist Soviet Union. Equivalent to a system that brutalized tens of millions, of which untold millions died of starvation, exposure, exhaustion, torture, illness or execution.

Yes there are much worse things happening all over the world, but does that make whatever is going on in guantanamo completely right?
Amnesty’s brief is to speak up on behalf of those imprisoned wothout trial wherever they are. Because America is a free democracy things cannot be swept under the carpet , the suspects detained can’t all be quietly ‘disposed of’ as they can in other countries, so America should set an example of how they should be treated.

Agreed. And, if AmnIntl’s assessment was a bit over the top, it nevertheless generated the publicity needed to keep the public aware of those things our government is doing without our knowledge that is contrary to our nation’s principles and basic decency.

What it does is give aid and comfort to the enemy. This is as much a propaganda war as a military war. It allows the terrorists to use it as political fodder to recruit more and more terrorists. As a Catholic you should be against this sort of thing.

Case in point:

I don’t believe Guantamo will ever be sweeped under the rug. The MSM of today would absolutly love to find something wrong there. They are consistantly writing about it and cases are in court over it. Look what happend with the Newsweek article. Guantamo is still a very very active news article. If they feel it’s not getting enough play then maybe they should hire Micheal Moore to do a “documentary movie” on Guantamo???
I lost any and all respect i had for Amnesty as soon as the claimed the US was the worst human rights violator. With all the problems or Human rights Violation going on…sudan…china…Korea…africa…for them to pick out the US just shows they are trying to make headlines instead of speaking out on people behalfs.

Pray for all captives no matter where or who they are!!!

Oh yea I find another reason to not believe them

Amnesty leadership aided Kerry
http://images.washtimes.com/images/clear.gif
The top leadership of Amnesty International USA, which unleashed a blistering attack last week on the Bush administration’s handling of war detainees, contributed the maximum $2,000 to Sen. John Kerry’s presidential campaign.
Amnesty sounds a little too political for me to ever believe them!!!
