I have to tell you guys about this…this forum could use some positive family talk anyway.
At Mass yesterday, I had a moment that I hope I can remember for the rest of my life. It was just beautiful. We were headed up to Communion. My daughter (5) was in front of my wife, my oldest son (3) was in front of me, and my youngest son (almost 2) was behind me in front of my mom, walking with his prayer hands. He ran past everyone when we got to the front of the line and stood beside his sister to get their blessings. After my wife received the Eucharist, they all followed her over to the Precious Blood. I walked up behind her as she drank and saw our oldest kids staring up at her in amazement and our baby boy hugging her leg as tight as he could. And nobody else there knew that our fourth baby was growing inside of her at that very moment.
Right there in front of me was everything that matters in my life. It only lasted for a second or two (as all peaceful moments in a house with 3 kids do), but I thanked God right there for making me notice. He is truly working in our lives right now, from the big problems, right down to the smallest details. I hope I never lose sight of that.
