They “know” how to explain the faith better than us to non-Catholic Christians.Amen!
It seems that those who actually take a fair look at church history end up being Catholic. I can highly recommend short books by another Evangelical turned Catholic: Mark P. Shea of Seattle. None other than Scott Hahn and Peter Kreeft praise his writings. By What Authority? tells of how he delved into history to determine just how the New Testament was canonized. He discovered Sacred Tradition. Again, in This Is My Body, he discovered the True Presence in the Eucharist. Of course, he also went through the gut-wrenching experience of denying self to follow the truth. I also purchased, but have not yet begun to read: Making Senses Out Of Scripture. It was highly recommended by a learned fellow parishioner of Mr. Shea’s.
You can find some of his books at Catholic Answers:

(In best Fr. Corapi voice) Many of those Catholics who left are in darkness. Sin has clouded their judgment. Many are re-married or living together outside of marriage, have had an abortion, or carry other sins. Show me someone who regularly receives the Sacrament of Reconciliation and falls away! They set a beautiful example of Christianity as opposed to former Catholics who speak with such animosity and anger towards The Church. Almost every former Catholic has some great horror story as to why they left The Church and it’s never been based on doctrinal issues.
I have a lot of his lessons on CD and I also have his DVD called “No Greater Gift.”I saw him on The Journey Home on EWTN and it was inspiring.
:yup: I agree! Some of the best Catholic apologists are former prots & even formers Jewish…Like I’ve always said, nothing makes a better Catholic Apologist than a former Protestant because they are speaking from experience. They’ve been on both sides of the fence and have sacrificed their lives to worship God universally.
Somehow, their words almost carry more weight, more authenticity than cradle Catholics. Why? Because, they’ve been there and done that.

No I’m not a Charismatic. Nothing against them personally. I just prefer the more Traditional way of doing things especially the Mass. I love the Extraordinary form of the Mass the best. I am so glad that our Holy Father put out the Motu Propio about the Latin Mass.Nah, I don’t have any of their cd’s or any media on them.
Are you a Charismatic?

Jesse Romero contributed a lot to my reversion to the faith. No I’m not a Charismatic. Nothing against them personally. I just prefer the more Traditional way of doing things especially the Mass. I like the way that Tim Staples and Jessie Romero explain the faith but that does not mean that I like to worship God in that same way. I can have several different tastes for everything else but when it comes to actual worship, I prefer more reverence and holiness and quiet time during the Mass. I love the Extraordinary form of the Latin Mass but I also love the Novus Ordo Mass in Latin the way that EWTN has the Mass, very reverent.

Outside of Mass, I love to get fired up when listening to Jessie Romero and Tim Staples. I also love Steve Ray’s Footprints of God series. I have all the DVDs out so far and look forward to the rest when they come out.
I think it’s as if all that quiet time with Jesus and the angels and saints during Mass fueled me up for when I get out into the world. I love to live and I love to serve God as best I can. Just like the Priest or Deacon says at the end of the Mass, “Ite missa est.” It is more precise than in English, “The Mass has ended, go in peace to love and serve the Lord.” Sometimes I don’t even hear “to love and serve the Lord.” That’s the whole point after Mass. In Latin it could mean several things, first it means that the Mass has ended and we are dismissed. It means that we are urgently sent back into the world to do our work and that is to love and serve God by loving and serving our neighbor. I don’t know, I think it’s more of an urgency in Latin then the more “warm” tone the English has. The Mass should not actually end after the dismissal. On the contrary, we are sent out to do our work in this world after hearing the Word of God and receiving Jesus in communion. I love it. I don’t know how anyone else can live without the Mass. After all, Jesus did say that if we don’t eat His body & drink His blood we do not have life in us. So I don’t want it any other way, other than to receive Jesus every Sunday and occasionally during the week.
Oh my, sorry so long.
Just to get back on track while I’m talking about the Mass, I love the way that Scott Hahn explains the Mass. He himself being a former Protestant Minister went to Mass while still Protestant and he recognized the Book of Revelations from the Mass. He also recognized our Lord Jesus Christ during the breaking of the bread just like the Apostles did. I learned a lot about the Mass from a former Protestant.
That’s great!Jesse Romero contributed a lot to my reversion to the faith.
I love quiet time during the Mass. There is more quiet time during the Extraordinary form of the Latin Mass than there is in the other Mass. EWTN’s Mass also has quiet time. Sometimes more quiet time depending on which Priest does the Mass. And I too am a very traditional Catholic.
I love the reverance of silence.
Wow. Yet another religion and not just a Protestant denomination brings you to the faith.I was brought back to my faith by Islam.
