what if u were married, but didn’t want children right away. Can u just have sex on the times were the women was not as fertile and would that be a sin or would it be ok?

But I wanted to answer your question. My husband and I are not in the position to have children at this time, so we have chosen to learn NFP. (and no, it is not like the “rythm” method… it is much more scientific and reliable).

NFP can be practised to space your children or to avoid pregnancy (with grave reasons to do so only). So, you need to seriously consider why a married couple doesn’t want children right away. Your priest can help you determine if your reasons are serious enough to justify avoiding pregnacy…

And yes you can have sex when the woman is not fertile and it is not inherently sinful. It could be a sin if you used NFP like contaception… there are many other threads on this issue… you will find a lot of useful info in them as well as some varying opinions.

I highly recommend the book “The Good News About Sex and Marriage” by Christopher West… I think it will help you a lot. It certainly helped me.
