George W Bush didn’t fund stem cell research, and I don’t think any of those others did either. I don’t think an of them voted for increased abortion funding either.

What is this American catholic church you’re talking about? The USCCB is a group of U.S. Roman Catholic bishops.
Certain views are contrary to the church, contrary to the Lord, and contrary to human rights. Respecting people’s right to hold a view does not mean endorsing that view or even leaving it unchallenged.
The catholic teaching is that abortion is an intrinsic evil. Intrinsic evils must always be opposed.

My Cardinal, gave his Archdiecies permission to vote for President Obama if we liked what he could do for America. The Roman Catholic Church is different from the American Catholic church in that we respect a persons views. You don’t have to agree with me to be a Catholic.

President Jenkins didn’t arrest anyone, the police did, the police were trying to keep law and order and some Americans didn’t want to do the right things and were arrested, President Jenkins doesn’t want to interfere with the police doing their jobs.
Actually, per flag etiquette, “When flown with the national banner of other countries, each flag must be displayed from a separate pole of the same height. Each flag should be the same size. They should be raised and lowered simultaneously. The flag of one nation may not be displayed above that of another nation.”

I can almost understand bringing the police in, and having the arrests made, to preserve order, and keep the protestors from disrupting Obama’s speech (though, they even got a little heavy-handed on that respect). However, to take it to the next step and press charges is entirely inexcusible.
I think you need to do a little research. Funding of abortion was at an all time low under George Bush. He limited support for abortion in many ways. He also protected Catholics who didn’t want to be involved with abortion. Obama immediately reversed these policies after his inauguration. We as Catholics need to make sure we will not be involved with abortion. Why is that inexcusable for folks who announced ahead of time they were coming to the campus to be disruptive?
Oh yes, nothing like the sight of an 85 year old Priest and people peacefully praying the rosary that is really disruptive. Invite me to your University and I’ll show you the definition of disruptive!!

Sorry, They *were *disruptive. I believe they were asked repeatedly to leave private property. A refusal will get you arrested.

Yes, he can. But then he would look foolish for ever having brought the charges. And folks who want to similarly trespass would be emboldened. I’m really not sure if he should or should not.
A private university, trying to conduct graduation ceremonies for students, their parents and celebrated guests, confronts demonstrators who have invaded private property, first stating an intention to disrupt the services and be arrested. I think the college’s tactics were measured and reasonable.
