Have you heard of Lisa Fithian? A veteran of the Seattle WTO riots and scores of other protests, she’s been with Sheehan from the start. Fithian is an anti-globalism anarchist. She protested the first Gulf war, played an important role in the violent shutdown of Seattle during the 1999 World Trade Organization meeting, was a key planner in protests at the Republican and Democratic national conventions in 2000 and 2004, and organized demonstrations at trade meetings in Washington, D.C., Prague, and Genoa.

What is this guilt by association? Does this mean anything to you catholic.org/cathcom/national_story.php?id=16115
SACRAMENTO, Calif. (CNS) – Army Spc. Casey Sheehan, who was killed in April 2004 in an ambush in Sadr City, Iraq, was “a very dedicated young person, very willing to help people,” recalled Father Benedict DeLeon, a pastor in the Sacramento Diocese. Whether he was helping as an altar server, a youth ministry leader or an extraordinary minister of holy Communion at his home parish, St. Mary Church in Vacaville, the young man was always “unselfish and generous, always willing to give a thousand percent,” the priest told the Catholic Herald, newspaper of the Sacramento Diocese.

The priest made the comments as the dead soldier’s mother, Cindy Sheehan, remained camped out along a road near President George W. Bush’s ranch in Crawford, Texas. She was protesting the U.S. war in Iraq and demanding that Bush talk to her.
Now pastor of St. Thomas the Apostle Parish in Oroville, Father DeLeon was pastor of St. Mary Church from 1996 to 2001.** He remembered Cindy and Patrick Sheehan and their four children being “regulars” at the Sunday night youth Mass. At that time, Cindy Sheehan was the parish’s youth minister, a position she held for eight years.
**
Vacaville resident Rita Irwin’s three children were active in the St. Mary Church youth group with Casey Sheehan during the mid-'90s.
“(Cindy Sheehan) was 100 percent dedicated to the youth program and put all her energy and passion into it,” said Irwin, who recalled their family spending Thanksgiving dinners with the Sheehans. “The youth group was our family.”

Patrick Sheehan, who has been separated from his wife since June and filed for divorce Aug. 12, said that several months after his son was killed he had a conversation by e-mail with a soldier in Iraq who told him how Casey had spent one of his last days there.

“He was part of a small group that had waited for a priest to arrive for Communion, but when it became apparent the priest was not going to show up, they decided to have a prayer service,” Patrick Sheehan said. “Ultimately, Casey died the way he lived, serving other people.”

He told the Catholic Herald that his life is now focused on one thing: “I used to try to live up to my ideals of my father, but I will spend the rest of my life trying to live up to the ideals of my own son.”

Andrew notes that this satellite truck is parked next to the antiwar protesters’ tent:

He writes:

The interesting thing about this sat truck is that I don’t think it was there with any news organization. I could be incorrect on this, but I’m pretty sure that it was brought in by the anti-war protesters themselves. It is what gives them internet access from the tent, and it is also what they use to create their own video packages to deliver to the networks. These are some extremely well funded and media savvy people. It is not just a grass roots effort by every day people.powerlineblog.com/archives/011501.php

No one said she was an atheist. She is just associating herself with anarchists, and has been actively against the war prior to her son’s death. She is currently being well funded by those who would rather see us loose this war (for whatever varied reasons they have).

Well Christopher Hitchens supports Bush’s Foreign Policy. Does that make W a tool of athiests?

Ad hominem. Bush’s PR dept is not run by Christopher Hitchens. Just like Cindy’s is not run by the white supremisists. Instead Cindy decided to merge with the anarchists, Moveon.org, Soros and Code Pink.

It has gotten very sad. Yesterday she criticized other Gold Star moms. said they were brainwashed and should be called “the continue the mayhem and slaughter moms.” I believe Cindy is Catholic. I wonder if she would agree to talk to a Priest? When you start attacking Mothers who have also lost sons it is evident that her grief and anger has completely overwhelmed her. she needs our prayers and she needs help.

I read that also. What a digusting thing to do.

What a mess of confusion. There is only one valid government, one nation, one people, and the capital is the Vatican. All the rest is vanity, disobedience, and bloody triva. Anarchism, historically defined, is actually a sin, as by rejecting the first estate (God’s elected monarcs, anointed by the Holy See), it by implication rejects the second estate (the priesthood), and thereby denies the third estate of God’s good governance and the sacrement. I suppose it is proper to consider all protistants to be anarcists, but why are Catholics debating a non issue?

I don’t know where you got that from but it seems to contradict what Jesus said about rendering to Caesar.

From the Catholic Catechsm:

The duties of citizens

2238
Those subject to authority should regard those in authority as representatives of God, who has made them stewards of his gifts:43 "Be subject for the Lord’s sake to every human institution. . . . Live as free men, yet without using your freedom as a pretext for evil; but live as servants of God."44 Their loyal collaboration includes the right, and at times the duty, to voice their just criticisms of that which seems harmful to the dignity of persons and to the good of the community.

Anarchists do not believe in government, private property, or any authority.
Anarchists will be a threat as soon as they get organized.

The fact that Lisa Fithian is a major player in directing the Sheehan event is important.

Fithian’s history has been that of promoting ‘direct action’ which they say allows property destruction. Few who search the net can find what this really means.

Fortunately I have a sibling in the Philly area who witnessed this direct action in real time on local TV in 2000 at the RNC. Heliocopters filmed the block by block attacks on cars, vans and trucks parked on Philly streets. Those who live in that area know that the VIPS never park on the streets, only the plebs like you and me.

Unfortunately the print media only reported the ‘direct action’ folks attacked the 20 police cars, ignoring the rest of the damage caused by protestors . Then the Fithian folks claimed that police infiltrated their group and that undercover cops actually caused the destruction of citizens’ cars and trucks.

‘Peace’ folks set up a system of verbal gymnastics that are geared to deny the consequences of their actual actions which are aimed to create crises and overthrow/change society.
