And the horrific mistake was traveling across an ocean? You do understand, do you not, that the first Europeans, Asians or Africans who set foot in the Americas, for any reason or just as castaways, would certainly have introduced diseases that proved catastrophic?

I was referring to the untenable actions which occurred after that, not only in Latin America but Africa and other parts of the world.

Playing the ‘other people behave in such a barbaric manner’ card does not alleviate the wrongness of your actions. I went to school with people who made it their afternoon recreation to steal hair accessories from local stores. Some who got sucked into this intrinsically immoral lifestyle would play the ‘others are doing it too’ card. I’m sorry but the numbers of people engaging in immorality doesn’t lessen the immorality of the action, and I thought that was the Catholic position. One in 3 women in the UK have had an abortion yet such a high number of women procuring abortions doesn’t lessen the intrinsic evilness of such an act.

Please, we all know they came from Oprah.

No it is timeless scripture, (SPREAD THE GOOD NEWS) it does not change, you would have done well to read on. When i leap i often fall in a hole.

Why don’t you do this? Why don’t you leave those familiar with the region to handle the situation whereas Europeans try sorting out the huge mess in their own back garden such as the slaughter of millions of unborn in Christian countries, sodomy, birth control, etc etc before you spread such modern illnesses to other ethnic groups. Try actually adhering to the natural law first and maybe people will actually grant the faith you claim to follow some credibility.

Imposing a European form of Catholicism (which Europeans ineviably will do) has proven problematic in the past, so let’s leave it to indigenous Catholics in the region to handle their own people as they are the only ones who can spread the faith to this tribe while maintaining as much of their unique culture as possible.

I just wish people would call a spade a spade- i.e if you’re a Cafeteria Catholic then say so, If you’re a Muslim then say so, if you’re a faithful Catholic in full Communion with Rome then say so. Steven refused to state Islam as his religious affiliation and for reasons that I hardly think stem from honesty…

If you’re warning me as you think I may convert to Islam, rest assured that dogs will fly before I even consider converting to Islam

Interesting, as I’ve had a noticeable amount of Islam endorsement from Muslims over the internet and even from youtube. At least such Muslims weren’t disguising themselves as Catholics as Steven is doing…

Since disease seemed to be the mesne subtopic, I thought that’s what you were talking about. But of all effects of colonialism in the Americas, disease was far and away the worst. And that was unavoidable, given sufficient time. It is also unavoidable that the “lost tribes” of the Amazon will be exposed to Eurasian and African diseases. My point is that the humanitarian thing to do, when such people are discovered, is precisely to approach them, not leave them to be perhaps wiped out by the first monkey they eat that previously walked through a village where common diseases exist, or the first survey crew.

As I’ve said before, very well. But please leave the ‘approaching’ to natives of that region who are educated in the fields of science who will not in any circumstance impose Catholicism upon this tribe but leave it for them to decide whether they wish to convert. I think Americans in particular have done more than enough tresspassing foreign lands which they had no right to be in and reaping destruction upon the indigenous people (The Middle East). Again, learn from your past and current mistakes.

In addition, I think European and American Catholics need to more focused on their own salvation considering the amount of abortion, birth control, fornication, adultery and sodomy which occurs in their Christian homelands. As those who don’t know of Catholicism will most likely be judged by their adherence to the moral law which is written in all our hearts, I’ve got a little feeling that most of this foreign tribe have a greater chance to enter heaven than many Catholics in the West, who despite having the truth, don’t live by it for the most part (as evidenced by the numerous vocal birth controlling Cafeteria Catholics on this site).
