Oh, indeed. People who have a different political view from you evidently are ‘infected’ with some sort of illness. Of course. That kind of attitude would fit in well in China right now.Looks like this Chief Rabbi is infected with a liberal mindset.
I was referring to theology, however, you have not said anything to refute my opinion. Instead, you have decided to use the Guilt by Association Logical Fallacy by implying my views are in line with Chinese Community policy. Stick to debating points and not trying to discredit someone for having strong views about something.Oh, indeed. Ah, apparently you get ‘infected’ by liberal theology. An inquisition might help that one out…I was referring to theology,
Ok then - why do you think that ‘He is kissing up to the same people who attack Israel every chance they get.’? I presume you think he’s not an idiot, or a masochist, so why do you think he would be doing that?however, you have not said anything to refute my opinion.

You’re a funny guy, aren’t you? Instead of using this as a chance of discussing liberal theology and what might or might not be wrong with it, you bring up an inquisition and insinuate, though not directly state, that I might see the cure for liberal theology in the form of one.

The Pope’s comment was nothing to be offended by, the Muslim reaction was totally out of line. Death threats, killing a nun, bombing churches. The Chief Rabbi states, according to the article, ““I am very sorry about the deprecating things said against Islam,” said Amar, in a letter that seemed to put the blame for the turmoil between Muslims and Christians on the shoulders of the Pope.” It is not the Pope’s fault they engage in unacceptable means of protest and that is something everyone should see. Then, according to the article, “Only after being questioned repeatedly was Amar willing to denounce Muslim violence against Churches in the Holy Land.” It took repeated questioning for him to even denounce the violence and terror that some Muslims are using. But he is more than happy to condemn, in no uncertain terms, the Pope for a simple statement that was blown out of proportion by Muslim extremists. This, to me, says he is sucking up to them, for whatever reason, and they are the very same people who attack Israel, bomb buses, marketplaces, kidnap Israeli soldiers, etc. Now, you asked why he might be doing it? Maybe he’s afraid of them, wants to avoid their wrath. Understandable, to an extent. No amount of sucking up will change their minds that Israel has no right to exist or stop their attacks and hate.
Not especially.You’re a funny guy, aren’t you?
There is a ‘moral theology’ forum for that.Instead of using this as a chance of discussing liberal theology and what might or might not be wrong with it,
You used the word ‘infected’. That’s a deliberate word. It implies something is wrong, like a disease, that needs to be driven out. Now you doubtless disagree with liberal theology, but to call it an ‘infection’ is disrespectful to people’s deeply held beliefs.you bring up an inquisition and insinuate, though not directly state, that I might see the cure for liberal theology in the form of one.
Yeah, sure. I guess I shouldn’t care if someone important says that only evil and inhumanity has come out of Catholicism, then? And yes, the Pope has made clear that this is not what he meant, but he didn’t make it anywhere like clear enough at the time. The Pope’s comment was nothing to be offended by,
I’m sure he’s more aware of whether that is true or not than you are. Maybe instead he’s saying something because he believes it? Seems like the obvious thing to assume.Maybe he’s afraid of them, wants to avoid their wrath. Understandable, to an extent. You could have started a thread on it and posted a link to it or simply sent a PM.There is a ‘moral theology’ forum for that.
Yes, it is a deliberate word but nowhere did I imply we needed an inquistion to fix the problem. Liberal theology…well…start a thread if you’d like to discuss it with me. The matter of respect and disrespect of it can be discussed there. You used the word ‘infected’. That’s a deliberate word. It implies something is wrong, like a disease, that needs to be driven out. Actually, if someone was giving a talk and quoted Jack Chick during it, I wouldn’t automatically assume they meant they agreed. You can quote Hitler during a speech and clearly not agree with it. Anyways, I get told Catholicism is evil and the Pope is the AntiChrist all the time. I don’t go and blow up Protestant churches or the Mission to Catholics, now do I?Yeah, sure. I guess I shouldn’t care if someone important says that only evil and inhumanity has come out of Catholicism, then? I all ready stated that was a guess, because I didn’t really know. If he does believe that the Pope was insulting Islam and felt the need to speak out, so what? He took prodding to get him to condemn the violent reaction of many Muslims. Says to me he is afraid of condemning them. You’d think he would feel the need to do that without even being asked. In fact, you’d think he’d want to condemn violence as much as he wants to condemn the Pope’s remarks. But you can assume he really believes what he said.I’m sure he’s more aware of whether that is true or not than you are. Maybe instead he’s saying something because he believes it? Seems like the obvious thing to assume.
Are you serious? What did you do? Or what happened? Maybe I can help you.I had a terrible time in my world issues class with this. Nobody in that class likes me anymore.
I tend not to post there, for various reasons. You could have started a thread on it and posted a link to it or simply sent a PM.
It’s been done to death, as I’m sure you can appreciate. I’ve no desire to do it all over again.Yes, it is a deliberate word but nowhere did I imply we needed an inquistion to fix the problem. Yes, but you make it very very clear that you’re not agreeing, if there is the slightest chance that it isn’t clear that you’re not. This lecture was so intellectual and deep that it wasn’t clear on first viewing what was being said at all.Actually, if someone was giving a talk and quoted Jack Chick during it, I wouldn’t automatically assume they meant they agreed. No, and I should hope not. I agree that some Muslims should not take offense so easily and react in such a violent way.Anyways, I get told Catholicism is evil and the Pope is the AntiChrist all the time. I don’t go and blow up Protestant churches or the Mission to Catholics, now do I?
Perhaps. I don’t really know much about him. Relations between our three religions are inevitably complicated.I all ready stated that was a guess, because I didn’t really know. Now you’ve said things I can agree with! See, we’re not so different.I tend not to post there, for various reasons.

Sooner or later, it happens with most people here. We do all have the same faith, after all, despite our various differencesNow you’ve said things I can agree with!
