#1:This is not a parish, it’s a conference. Mass was held in the largest ballroom, I think, not in a church.

#2:You are judging on mere pictures alone. Only those who were there could possibly say something about it.

I get sort of annoyed at you guys jumping to screaming “liturgical abuse!!!” “they are leading our children away from God!!!” “They are trying to upstage Christ!!!”

Ladies and Gentleman, please be more charitable and give those at the congress the benefit of the doubt. I personally know a few of the people that were singing - they are some of the most committed and selfless youth and music ministers out there.
  1. Regarding number 2, why can we not judge based on pictures? Are you saying these pictures are not accurate, and that you were there?
  2. Sir or madam, we are not jumping up and down. How can you judge that – you don’t even have pictures of my typing right now!!
  3. I consider it an act of charity to do whatever I can to prevent these people from having to swim with millstones.

Ahhhh… EIGHT years of “formation”

Everything…so…“PINK”

No Statues, no Crucifxes…etc…no sense of the Holy…how “Ecumenically Protestant.” 😉

Whats up with the so called Priest at the end…with the “Kiddie Stole” and the position of his hands???

He looks like hes ready to say…“All da Priests in da house say YEEAHH”

What about the young girl holding the prayer book for the cardinal??? Is that liturgical abuse? Can girls participate in the mass that way? Can a priest wear his stole at an angle? I am not sure but those things don’t seem right.

glass Kool-Aid pitchers?

next year perhaps there will be more reverence to the cup if they use wine-in-a-boxes.

ROFL…I really MUST figure out what “abuses” are. When I looked at those pictures I thought, “Well isn’t that nice?” okay okay…I’m not thrilled with pink either but hey.

For the love of pete! I didn’t know it was so important that the female sex didn’t hold a prayer book for the cardinal, and that the angle of a stole is very very important. Wow. :rotfl:

There is one statistic that tells us how sucessful Roger Cardinal Mahoney is, and that is the number 5. 5 is the number of diocean ordinations the LA Archdiocese, an Archdiocese that has 4.2 million baptised Cathiolics within it, ordaiend this year. With this nonsense, is it any wonder that orthodox young men are not fostered in this Archdiocese? While my current diocese is not know as either a bastion of hetrodoxy or orthodoxy, sort of in the middle, it is 1/20th the Catholic population of the LA archdiocese, and it ordained 6 men to the priesthood this year.

Anyways, as long as the current managemnt stays in place in LA, orthodox young men considering the priesthood should look at the St. Louis Archdiocese.

Hey, that’s Hollywood for you! 😃 Glitsy sets, bright lights, fancy constumes.

I’m goin’ to L.A to get my Mini-Cooper in Sept. Maybe I’ll take in the show! 😃 It’ll be cheaper than buying tickets to the Hollywood Bowl? I wonder if the good Cardinal has a star yet on the Avenue of the Stars, on Hollywood Blvd? Maybe, his handprints and footprints are in cement in front of Gormans Chinese Theatre, and they’ve made a Litugical Rollercoaster ride at Universal Studios!!! 😃 😉

Was this Mass, or a rock concert? It looks to me that they did everything in their power to make it NOT look like Mass. It was really hard to tell what exactly was going by the pictures.

A picture is worth a thousand words. PLEASE! :banghead: When the Pope came to our area you would have never seen pictures like that!
Church or not. Mass was held in the silverdome but still tastefully decorated with the Liturgical colors. And dancers…PLEASE!:banghead:

Here he is in his full glory.I am not suprised to see he would partake in such a service. Now you know why I had to leave the Parish of my baptism. You should see him come down the ilse after Mass. I was far oo tempted to stick my foot out as he gyrated himself out the door.
Now I’m at the Latin service and so far no gyrating dervishes.

Chris, a Catholic Mass can assist a sports team? Maybe that explains the NE Patriots.

I was trying to figure out what those guys in the yellow shirts were doing around the altar, now I have a clue.

I am also starting to get an idea why the color pink was so popular there:whistle:

Any of you out there read the Wanderer? Every now and then they insert a page of urgent interest. Over a year ago thy had a full page of Mahoney abuses. If anyone out there knows how to find that page I can guarantee you it would be of interest.

I don’t know how many of you are familiar with Bishop Vasa, Bishop of Baker, Oregon. He is the one who has asked anyone in visiable ministries (lector, EMHC, cantor, teacher, etc.) to take an affirmation of faith before being invested to serve. (see Karl Keatings e-letter of July 20)
The most vocal priest in the diocese against the affirmation says it turns away too many good people who just don’t happen to agree with Church teachings(!?).
That priest wears the identical stole as the priest in the picture!
:whacky: Is there a message of dissent in vestments that we are missing?
(I am kidding, but it makes you wonder where they get these ideas)
