You know I often see those who want to change the Church to reflect their political beliefs talk about the “primacy of conscience”. Funny thing is I cant find ANYTHING in Church teachings that tells us conscience trumps doctrines.
Me neither. The only time I hear or see reference to Primacy of Conscience is in conjunction with the caveat that the conscience be well-informed. Acting on one’s conscience is not merely a matter of doing what feels right to any particular person, but rather doing what IS morally right.

“Angela Bonavoglia Won’t Let Catholic Church Silence Her”. :hmmm:

She could be silenced permenantly if she ever made it to my neck of the woods. 😉

Per the events section of her webpage, several pastors and bishops still permit her to speak at parishes, and are planning on having her attend in the future.

And married men, with dispensation can be ordained into the Roman Rite:

Lourdeslady and ByzCath:

My parish (a TAC Parish) has been dealing with a situation which speaks to priestly celebacy. The Rector’s wife has had MS for the past 25+ years, and it’s gotten serious enough that they’re having to accommodate some severe effects.

In order to make his wife comfortable and to help pay for the increased medical bills, they moved 20 miles to San Pedro, the least expensive Beach Community in the area, and he got a “Part-time” carreer going which has interferred with his duties as Rector inspite of his best efforts.

Along with some other things, this helped to cause a split in the parish when people chose sides and said things to each other they shouldn’t have said. About 20% of the active members left, and most of the serious doners. That’s left the parish unable to do nearly as much to help financially as it could have done previously.

The Curate, a retired Physicians Assistant with failing health, has began to have some serious health problems. The Rector just couldn’t leave his wife who was sick and staying at the couple’s apartment in San Pedro. It seems that the Rector forgot that only a Priest can confect the Eucharist and forgive sins in the Confessional, while almost any skilled person could help his wife.

The whole thing has been a testimonial for Priestly Celebacy. It’s also highlighted something I can’t talk abot here. It’s just that I found myself reminding a few members that someone created the technique of “Mechanically Softening” food for people who couldn’t chew and had difficulty swallowing their food, and that I am the person. And, I’m not the only skilled person in the parish, but the priests are the ONLY ONES who can confect the Eucharist and forgive sines in the Confessional.

Having married priests can only work if the priests remember what they alone can do and what the other members of their congregations can do. That takes a level of HUMILITY most of us just don’t have.

In Christ, Michael

Are there any efforts to stop her from speaking at any of the other upcoming Catholic stops on her book tour?

Of course, you have to read the whole Article on conscience. People like Angela stop at something like this:
1782 Man has the right to act in conscience and in freedom so as personally to make moral decisions. "He must not be forced to act contrary to his conscience. Nor must he be prevented from acting according to his conscience, especially in religious matters."53
Ignoring…
1785 In the formation of conscience the Word of God is the light for our path,54 we must assimilate it in faith and prayer and put it into practice. We must also examine our conscience before the Lord’s Cross. We are assisted by the gifts of the Holy Spirit, aided by the witness or advice of others and guided by the authoritative teaching of the Church.55
And, of course…
IV. ERRONEOUS JUDGMENT

1790
A human being must always obey the certain judgment of his conscience. If he were deliberately to act against it, he would condemn himself. Yet it can happen that moral conscience remains in ignorance and makes erroneous judgments about acts to be performed or already committed.

1791 This ignorance can often be imputed to personal responsibility. This is the case when a man "takes little trouble to find out what is true and good, or when conscience is by degrees almost blinded through the habit of committing sin."59 In such cases, the person is culpable for the evil he commits.

1792 Ignorance of Christ and his Gospel, bad example given by others, enslavement to one’s passions, assertion of a mistaken notion of autonomy of conscience, rejection of the Church’s authority and her teaching, lack of conversion and of charity: these can be at the source of errors of judgment in moral conduct.

Our Pastor came here from Poland and can be very blunt. During the election he commented that a Parsioner told him he needed to understand that in this country we have the right to free speech. He responded you also have the right to talk yourslef right into hell
And the atheists, non-believers and secularists will take over this nation if we let them.

Sorry lady but women are never going to be priests and thank God for that! If women ever were to become priests then we would know that the gates of Hell had overcome the Church and that will never happen.

Hardly!
I’m more concerned about the tresspass of religion into justifiably secular domain.

So, that would be the clue that the “gates of hell have prevailed”?
But being raped by a Catholic preist doesn’t rise to that same level of apostacy then?

I hardly think that ANYTHING humans do with or in the Church can enable the gates of hell to prevail. Unless the promise of Christ can be undone and undermined by human sin. Right?
