There seems to be a movement in the Church of England to head off defections because of female bishops:
Several Anglican organizations have reacted to mounting speculation of many more conversions by announcing in an Oct. 19 statement that they can amend the church’s legislation on women bishops to protect the rights of objectors.
They believe they can force the Church of England to recognize the newly established Society of St. Wilfrid and St. Hilda as an Anglican equivalent of the Catholic ordinariate that would offset the many possible defections to the Catholic Church.
The society will be nearly identical in structure to a Catholic ordinariate, having no women priests or bishops, and its members will be served by their own bishop rather than the local diocesan bishop.
Anglican Father Simon Killwick, chairman of the Catholic Group in General Synod, told CNS in an Oct. 19 telephone interview that new elections to the synod meant there was enough support to stop women bishops unless the new society is formally adopted.

Will they be successful? Perhaps CAF members in the UK, or familiar with the Anglican Church, can provides some perspective?

The TAC was already separated from the Anglican Communion, and they still reunited with Rome. Even if they’re a separated entity withing the AC, they’re still part of the AC which has factions that has women and openly gay clergy. I believe thats their biggest stumbling block, no matter how they restructure the AC. Unless they completely remove women and openly gay clergy.

That would be fairly schizophrenic of them. As ConstantineTG said, how can you consider yourself to be in union with a group who you believe is heretical? It would be like the Catholic Church having a Calvinist religious congregation.

per some of the Anglican Bishops and Priest of the CoE, whose blogs and reports I read…
it is a pipe dream for those opposed to women as bishops. In 1993, the year I believe the CoE ok’d female priestess, the Traditionalist and Orthodox thought they have the numbers. In the end the liberal won. The margin here is much smaller and the pressure on those staying in the CoE is much greater. The Synod is much more likely not to approve “flying Bishops” or “PEVs”. Looks as though the majority of the Bishops who have provided this service prior are heading to the Ordinariate or retiring.

At the meeting of FIF UK Bishops, clergy and laity understood the CoE will be abandoning what is left of any type of catholicism in the near future. They now have to decide their reponse.

The blogs and newspapers in the UK are already reporting the beings of the exodus to Rome. Rumors are rife so it will be interesting to see how it all shakes out. Let us keep those who are coming home in our prayers. As well as those who will be staying.

Anglicanism = schizophrenic. Look it up in the dictionary!😃

Use me as an example. I am in, for now, the REC. 39 Articles, Calvinistic…right. Well
not really. I don’t have to hold to the 39 articles, can reject calvinism and embrace catholicism. My Bishop is calvinistic, low church. He taught at a presbyterian seminary and was and is reformed in his theology. My deacon, who is in AMiA, holds to WO (except for Bishops) is charismatic with a touch of catholicism. Then there is me. CATHOLIC. The parish I serve…lets take the Eucharist. Members hold to memorial and are happy to have it once a month. Real presences with any personal interpetation of what that means with reception of one a month to weekly. One couple holds to the real body and blood but figuratively. Transubstantiation…only me. 🤷

Anglicanism loves to say they are a big tent church…they are right, you can believe anything you want…reject the resurrection or virgin birth (yes Anglican Bishops in good standing have done so in the past and now). Yes we are open minded, just so open minded that at times I think collectively our brains have fallen out.😦

Bishop Akerman has called WO heresy. So has Bishop Iker. So have all of my REC Bishops. It is wrong, not biblical, against tradition and reason. But what is that to communion. We Anglicans like our fudge!
