Anglicanism — Something that happened to me recently

Yes, that is the case: I am bound until 31 August. I have not compromised anything, if by that you mean getting up in the pew and shouting: “Heretics!”. I have not been giving out communion, neither have I been trying to subvert anything. Quite the opposite.

The latter is the case.

Thank you for saying that, I believe it has been very helpful! 🙂
No problem. I understand working life with a church can be quite complicated. I have a dear friend who works as an organist with the United Church of Christ, also bound by contract, who frequently tells me of conflicts he has had there.

Work is work, no matter where you go. 😃 God bless on your journey.
The Church of England was not a new church, legally and Anglicans would say spiritually either. It was the Bishop of Rome who excommunicated Elizabeth and the English Church (and effectively ordered her subjects to overthrow her, which would have led to foreign rule, probably by Spain, whose Armada God had chosen to sink, after that particular adventure had been supported by the previous Pope as a crusade).
For historical accuracy’s sake we should also note how both Henry pillaged the Catholic Church in England, and how his daughter sent a Counter-Armada to smash Spain, equally a failure, not long after Philip’s failed attack.

That’s +Menees?

ACNA has a spectrum of positions somewhat resembling the Episcopal Church, 50 years ago. The Anglican Continuum, which ACNA is not formally a part of, is more (if only somewhat more) Anglo-Catholic.

yes that’s him. the ACNA is a province in formation, recognized by some, mostly southern, provinces fighting with the EC and the Anglican Church in Canada over property rights. so Canterbury is sitting on the side, letting the matter sort itself out.

But with its finger on the scales.

I have heard that many RC bishops in England privately dissent over Apostolicae Curse. They also didn’t have much time for the Ordinariate and I believe it still only has one parish. (Pope Francis also is not an enthusiast for it.)

I suspect the decline of the Church of England is all part of Britain’s national decline, too. It’s no wonder people seek refuge in a continental church when we now have a continental government in Brussels and increasing numbers of Roman Catholics being shipped in from Eastern Europe.

I gather that the UECNA is fairly middle of the road not going much beyond 1928. However there are a few, as +Peter Robinson puts it, ‘Full Gospel Tabernacle’ A-C shacks in ACC and ACA.

As an amusing aside to the OP, I do think we both agree that the C of E is a sinking ship, and I believe women’s ordination is a cancer which will kill it eventually. The difference is that I still think Anglicanism contains the fullness of the Catholic Faith, and am convinced that when the last orthodox C of E parishes die, God will provide for us in some way. I think Christians are much more like the Israelites than we realize.

The bishop would know better than I about that, with respect to the ACC and the ACA. I think of them as on the A-C side, generally.

UECNA is on the low side,IMO, tracing its origins to Bishop Doren, one of the original 4 bishops consecrated after the St. Louis meeting. It appears to be on cordial terms with the ACC and the APCK, currently, both A-C stalwarts in the Continuum. Eventually, perhaps, the fractured bits of the Continuum may coalesce a little. Would help to have few acronyms to remember.

I gather that relations within the Continuum are getting a lot better lately. I hope there is a viable Continuing Church in England soon.
