Anglicans: Why don't you come home to Rome?

The REC (which I have no objection to) is AUTHENTIC (I think that’s how it’s written) Anglicanism in the same sense that the SSPX is the AUTHENTIC RCC.

Really off this time. I have scienc fiction authors to annoy, in another state.

That is not true, to say that the Reformed Episcopal Church is the SSPX of the Anglican Way. The Anglican Bishops of the Southern Cone, the Anglican Primates of Nigeria, and New Zealand and Uganda ALL recognise the Reformed Episcopal Church as a member of and part of the worldwide Anglican Communion. REC Bishops were invited and were full voting participants at GAFCON.

I say to deb, go to the website of St. Lukes REC (Reformed Episcopal Church) and read the Sermons there. They are truly Anglican and excellent.

i did go look at a couple of websites on REC. i have heard of the reformed episcopal, but i didn’t know what it was about.

i saw St. Luke’s, but haven’s had time to check it out yet.

it is still very protestant though isn’t it?

one thing i have learned since i joined the RCC, it is very different from being anglican.

Hi, GKC,

Perplexing isn’t quite the term I would use… 😃 Now, I am honestly trying to make sense of your post… and, I have run into some difficulties. Take for starters this non-definition definition:
I’m an Anglican, whose position in Anglicanism is best described as Anglo-Catholic. Anglo-Catholics are those Anglicans who sound like me. This is contrasted with other sorts of Anglicans who are best described as reformed, or sometimes evangelical, or occasionally, pagan.
I still do not know what an “Anglo-Catholic” is … and your statement really did not help. When you use yourself as the criteria (if they sound like me, that is it…and, if they don’t sound like me, they are something else…🤷 ) Gem’me a break…😃
I’m not RC because I don’t believe all that is required to be affirmed, de fide, in order to be one.
This just cries out for some particulars … so… what are these things that have caused you concern?
Otherwise, I’m relatively harmless.
Harmlessness is not the issue - the reason for the link is to find out about people coming home to Rome. This is the issue - and, I for one would certainly like ot invite you home to Rome.

Let’s keep this intention in our prayers - and the list is certainly invited to join in this intention. 👍

God bless

It all depends on how one defines “Protestant”. I don’t consider myself “Protestant”. To me “Protestants” are Baptists, Assembly of God, Methodist, Congregationalists, Presbyterians, and all your “Independant” and Megachurches Like Calvary Chapel and Willow Creek.

The REC has more in common with Eastern Orthodox and Roman Catholics than they do with Baptists and most Evangelical Christians.

Hi, TriuneUnity,
Which Anglican church did you attend prior to becoming RC? Just curious.
I really would appreciate it if you would answer the question that was asked of you.

or do you think being anglican, covers the catholic part?
because i had all of the things you mentioned before i joined the RCC in july.
the anglican church i attended hadn’t been to GAFCON yet, but eventually
they were going to go back to the prayerbook of 1662. and the priest was installed as an anglican priest - he was episcopal before. and he did attend GAFCON.
in other words, you think you can be catholic without the Pope and the magesterium?
just trying to clarify things.
Thanks and God bless

deborah didn’t ask that question to me. She asked another poster who is Anglican.

this is confusing. i didn’t ask that question did i? i thought someone asked that question of me! LOL

check out my answer on post #347. i did answer that question there.

i thought it was protestant since it was started after the reformation and does not conform with the roman catholic church.

i know when i was episcopalian, i considered myself more catholic, but when you begin to learn more about the roman catholic church and the early church fathers and then you actually join the RCC, you realize you were a lot protestant. at least i did. there is a difference when you are having to be obedient to the Pope and the teachings of the magesterium, compared to when i abided by the 3 legged stool. i am still figuring this all out. but let me tell you, the width of the river between anglicanism and roman catholic is a lot wider than i thought. the eastern orthodox and roman catholic are very close, but the anglican communion has quite a ways to go.

Sorry. That post was a hasty and facetious one, and Anglo-Catholic is something of a puzzle for some, I know. It’s not that difficult. Though it requires a discussion of the range of Anglcain doctrine that has been a part of teh Church, in one way or anoother, for all its history. I’ll talk to you when I return.

And I’ve been invited many times by nice RCs to swim the Tiber, over the years. I do not accept several *de fide * doctrines, related to the Pope, and some other minor points. You may take it I know the issues involved. I’ve been studying on the matters for some 45 years. And discussing Anglicanism on boards like this for around 10 years. A few folks here know me.

The convention calls. I must away.

And I say that’s a good idea. She should go and learn about the REC, which is a legtimate form of Anglicanism, though not the historical mainstream. And not the AUTHENTIC (Pat. Pending) Anglicanism, either.

Really leaving now, no fooling.
