So I believe that we should not change with the culture, and we need radical modesty, purity, liberty, and mutual support between families in small christian communities in this world. But many of my friends and family, all devout Christians or Catholics, think im going a little too far when i say that modesty standards from pope pius 11 should be followed today. They say, yeah but that was the 30s. They try to rationalize that we should go along with the current political atmosphere, social culture, and it makes me angry. I know that i should not get angry, but it makes me angry that people think that we should go along with the current fashions in anything simple because those are the modern things. I want revolution, they call me extreme. What should i do to push for change while not getting angry at those who disagree?

Watch out for anger!!! Explore where the anger comes from, and try and work through their sources. Confess it as sin.

Love God, and your neighbor as yourself. If you’re experiencing the LOVE of the Holy Spirit, you will desire only the basic necessities of life. Know the Seven Gifts, and 12 Fruits, of the Holy Spirit, and seek them with all your spiritual strength. Pray.

LOVE! ❤️

I kind of understand what isaac talked about

Romans 12:9 (NIV)
Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good.

In someway we must hate the world and not to be part of it. But not necessarily to be too extreme. The world here is the negativity of the world such as idolatry, adultery, a view that might not seem to harm but if you look into it further it actually leads to death, etc that leads to evil.

It’s okay to voice your disatisfaction, your anger, your stance on this matter, & frown your face against them. Narrow is the gate that leads to life, wide is the gate that leads to death.

Yes it’s kind of difficult when we see people angry. But bible itself tell us to be angry, only do not sin and let it continue until the sun goes down.

Pray for the people who are rationalizing. We are to influence the world for the good, not the world influence us.

It is best to not take part in discussions where people already have their minds made up. We have no power to change their minds, but God can.

First of all, I think it’s crucial to realize that people disagree with one another and that’s life. If you have already expressed your opinion and others do not agree, instead of turning your frustration about not being agreed with into anger, try praying. However, you should also realize that if you say things like “I want revolution,” most people are going to take that as an extremist point of view. Lastly, it’s important that change takes time and is usually not successful if it is “pushed” upon people.

Ha. It’s only an “extremist” point of view if you don’t agree with the sort of revolution called for. 👍

Merriam-Webster:
ex·trem·ism: Belief in and support for ideas that are very far from what most people consider correct or reasonable.

I would presume most individuals may agree with the assertion that a greater deal of modesty is appropriate, however, most would disagree with the extremist idea of advocating for people to adopt outfits from the '30s. Also, as per the OP’s usage of “radical,” it seems logical to use aforementioned phrase of “extremist.”

No most people do not advocate modesty. Seriously? Have you seen the world lately. And Jesus Christ was certainly an extremist by that definition, as the majority called for his crucifixion. He had very extremist, minority ideas.

Okay, so you’re comparing your desire to see everyone clothed in the garb of the '30s to Jesus? 🤷 I’m pretty sure Jesus understood that there are always those who do not necessarily agree with one’s point of view but that does not mean that one should write lengthy posts about being “angry at the world” and ask advice for how to make people agree with one’s point of view.

I was just making a wise-crack.

Just an FYI, “revolutions” is exactly what is written in the stars (according to the Cardinal Grand Cross).

I did not ask for advice on how to make people conform to my views, I asked for advice on how to control my anger. And your not helping at all. Did you even read my original post? Also I do not consider the post very “lengthy”. I also said the modesty standards were set up in the 30s i did not say i wanted everybody to be in 30s garb. Please read my original post before replying, replying when you dont know what the OP said is very frustrating.

The only ones you have any potential control over are your children. And with them, humor will work better than shame.

And your trying to spread the sad idea that you cant change the world, and everything should be OK and funny and we should have no shame. Wow. And Im not a parent.

Catholics should not be looking for information from the stars.

We have a treasure in our Catholic faith and all its many helps, and look to the Lord in prayer.

Peace,

Dorothy

I apologize! I should have put the “handle” of the poster I was responding to (post #13) who had put a link about the stars, and looking to them.
