You don’t need giant lion teeth in order to have canine teeth. The pointed teeth humans have are scientifically called the canine teeth. They are used to rip and tear flesh like how the lion’s teeth rip and tear flesh

If we wanted to follow your logic, than us humans being ment to be vegans, our teeth should look like this:
(Please Note: This uploaded content is no longer available.)
The flat teeth being used to grind up the plant matter to make it easily digestible. Do we have these sorts of teeth in our mouth? Yes. Do we also have canine teeth to eat flesh? Yes. Ergo, humans are omnivores. It makes no sense to shame people for eating meat.

Before the agricultural revolution, humanity had no consistent means to farm veggies and fruits. The best way for humanity to survive was to eat calorie dense meat after a hunt. The meat also gives us essential fats and amino acids you can’t get in wild veggies and fruits.

If you and other vegans/vegetarians wish to deny yourselves the gifts God gave us and do your body a disservice, than you are free to do so. (Joke censored for wrong think)

And are you saying that to emphasise your acts of unkindness towards God’s creatures or are you not willing to change what has been indoctrinated Into you from your culture. Yes animals of prey do attack kill and eat other animals but remember human animals have the capacity to think outside the square.

I have never believed in fairy tales and always looked for a hidden meaning e.g. in Alice in Wonderland. The Bible is full of hidden meanings

Genesis states that God created Earth and all that dwell on it 6,000 years ago. What is 6,000 years? Is it another form of calculation as we know there are reasons to believe Earth was created billions of years ago.

I believe Jesus, in his role as God in human form, died on the cross to atone for our sins of the past, however humans have still to learn the lesson of compassion, non violence and pure love for all creatures great and small.

All animals feel pain and suffering and love. Yes i am a vegan and i dont live on berries but i dont cause pain and suffering to God’s creatures either. I recognise all life on Earth as sacred.

Ha you are tempting me. For health reasons it’s mostly white meat these days for me, but if something looks that good I can give in occasionally.

I’ll bypass discussion of the passover, since that was covenental (God can ask us to do things in His name that would be wrong to do for other reasons). My question for you is this… If Christ was really calling on us to never eat flesh, why would He have told Peter where to cast his net? That was not for a special meal, that was for morning breakfast.

It is a greater act of unkindness to God’s creatures to deny them their destiny as our food. For if we deny them that, what purpose do they have here on the earth? They become useless and worse they become competition for food for us.

Even worse than that, if we were to ignore the animals and treat them as equals (or in your words, sacred) then their population could go unchecked and wreck havoc on the environment. For example, take this study on the deer population by Oxford:

Now imagine that but with roaming gangs of boar or an influx of sheep or goats destroying the grass. Without humanity to tame or hunt them who knows where we or the environment would be now.

Last point, let us not forget the menace animals can be on farmers. Like the Emu:
(Please Note: This uploaded content is no longer available.)
The Emu was such a pest on Australian farmers and their crops that the government declared war on the Emu. Australia literally sent soldiers to hunt down and fend off the emu populations. Hilariously, the emus won. So instead the government put out bounties on the Emu so local hunters can take them out for money. If we were to treat the Emu as equals and not allowed to hunt or kill them Australia’s farmers would be at the mercy of these raptor’s descendants. Always living in fear of Emus comming in to destroy your crops. That way of life is no way to live at all. Go put us over the animals for a reason. He gave us authority over them so they would never be equal or over us. So we would never have to live in fear of the creation.

For man to live, something has to die. That is nature. I am sorry if that is upsetting, but that is how life - your life - is perpetuated. Also for a reason

Is it therefore OK to cultivate legumes, grains, fruit and berries solely for human consumption? To mow them down in their prime, ignoring their distress simply because they have no vocal chords to scream with?

They bleed too - it’s just not red.

Jesus ate meat, particularly fish, and once permitted the slaughter of about 2000 pigs.

OP, it’s beautiful to have such a kind heart towards animals as you do. Animals are amazing examples of God’s creative genius, and it is tragic when one goes extinct.

YOU are free to believe in the sacredness of all life on earth, and that killing any living thing is wrong. But that is not what the church teaches, it is merely your own opinion. Amidst the jibes here, some really good points have been made you might consider. It’s OK to value the lives of animals highly, and you’re free to eat as you wish. But declaring something as morally right or morally wrong, is the church’s job.

One downside I see to equivocating the value of people’s lives and the value of animal’s lives, is the way it seems to deny that God created man in his own image, thus enabling humans alone to enter into a mutual loving relationship with him.

Lets not forget, potatoes have eyes and corn have ears. Just because they are different from ours or animals doesn’t make them less than us.

Like that trite question: “If we are not intended to eat animals, why are they made of meat?”

I’m not a vegan, nor a vegetarian.
There is a whole lot of mounting scientific evidence that vegetarian and vegan diets are healthier than the traditional U.S. diet.
It’s getting harder and harder to ignore.

+1. From the cancer world, I know that both vegetarians and vegans develop cancer. At this point in the entropic deterioration of our originally pure genetic makeup, is it any wonder that cancer rates are rising overall?

Welcome to CAF @JulieLindur !

Be forewarned that there is an unusual culture here on CAF that feels quite threatened and defensive by vegans, who make up a scant 0.5% of the U.S. population.

Church teaching permits eating meat. But veganism isn’t a sin, either.
Who has ever claimed that it was?

No one has a problem with vegans being vegans.

Some people do have a problem with vegans telling others that they should be vegans too, especially when vegans try to put a guilt trip on others stating that it’s immoral to eat other animals.

We are permitted to eat animals. However I can vouch for more respect. Almost all meat comes from a factory farm, which is not okay. And many animals are used in ways many of us would find appalling in laboratories. All of these things are allowed, however there is definitely a reason to improve welfare as they aren’t treated in a way that God would want. As Pope Francis said, “Be more kind to animals”
