Yes - that is a better way to say it.Are you suggesting this is avoidance behavior to the human condition?

I don’t think that’s strictly true. If you make an enemy, a true enemy, of PETA, you should be afraid. Unless you’re a large international and very rich corporation like KFC.I wouldn’t call PETA terrorists either; simply because no-one is “terrorized” by them. there is no collective fear or change in public life resulting from their actions; at worst some have chosen not to wear fur where they might be active.
Some long-ago Soviet once said, “The purpose of terror is to terrify.” Nobody’s terrified of PETA.
ICXC NIKA.
That is extremist. While I hate the mstreatment of animals and support societies like the SPCA and other animal shelters, I don’t want anything like that to occur, of course.I have no problem with good stewardship.
A leading animal rights leader claims that the earth should be limited to 300 million humans to leave room for the animals. Guess how he thinks we should accomplish this? Oh and by the way - they will be left standing.
Oh, come on! She’s TEN YEARS OLD.I noticed something the other day on Idol or the Talent show. A little girl singer was advanced to the next round. She was asked what she would do with the money. She answered {paraphrasing) - she would give it to the animals.
Whatever happened to feed the poor?
Anybody else here ever notice that while the PETA folks throw paint on old ladies in fur coats, they never throw paint at bikers wearing black leather jackets?
Oh come on? That is today’s politically correct answer. Where does a 10 year old learn a PC answer from?Oh, come on! She’s TEN YEARS OLD.It’s not like she had time to prepare an answer either.
Politically correct is not necessarily a bad thing.Oh come on? That is today’s politically correct answer. Where does a 10 year old learn a PC answer from?
And the audience thought the answer just great.
Yes PETA are extremists but most well informed animal rightists/welfarists (whatever word is acceptable for these threads) do not support them. Many are misinformed about them. And worse.
They have also slaughtered animals by the thousands, yet noisily campaigned against aquariums serving fish in their cafeterias, likening it to cannibalism.
They are offensive and destructive. They do not do any of the dirty work in actually helping abused animals, the way Bide-a-Wee or other true humane organizations do.
I won’t even call it ‘political correctness.’ It has evil in its heart. It exists only to quash free speech----but from one point of view only.Politically correct is not necessarily a bad thing.
Who is anyone to instruct anyone else on what cause to support? A good cause is a good cause. Do we accuse people who work with battered women and those with breast cancer of having no heart for abused children? One could even make an argument that less fortunate children require the help and charity more before women as the former is more vulnerable.
We all choose to support the causes we do for a variety for personal reasons.
The 10 year old could have said she was going to spend all the money on Barbies or costume jewellery. I would not have thought less of her if she said that, but she showed she was thinking of something other than herself. I dont want to put her on a pedestal but maybe as she grows up she d be more likely to grow up aware, and maybe also consider human charities.

The point I was making is that this has penetrated deeply into the American psyche that children are now carrying the flag. Contrast this to say 20, 30, 50 and 100 years ago.Exactly.
I honestly can’t believe you think it’s a bad thing that a child wants to donate to acharities that help abused animals.
The difference is, IMNAAHO, that children today are potentially so sheltered that they understand animal need before human need. The point I was making is that this has penetrated deeply into the American psyche that children are now carrying the flag. Contrast this to say 20, 30, 50 and 100 years ago.
Barring a mass repentance, it will go on; and the expense will be human life itself, in the special place GOD intended. And the next question, how far do we want this to go and at what expense?
You could give her a little credit for not saying something selfish on the spur of the moment. You might disagree, but I don’t sense any great conspiracy here. The point I was making is that this has penetrated deeply into the American psyche that children are now carrying the flag. Contrast this to say 20, 30, 50 and 100 years ago.
Amen.In my city, they are working so hard to make animal shelters “no kill shelters.” Wish they could do that for actual humans![]()
Because the whole animal is used, not just the hide or the fur. It’s a complete waste to kill an animal for its hide and throw the rest of the animal away like it’s garbage. When the leather is taken, the meat is also taken. There is very little waste. At least that’s one way to answer your question.Anybody else here ever notice that while the PETA folks throw paint on old ladies in fur coats, they never throw paint at bikers wearing black leather jackets?
I have yet to see a “kill shelter” for humansIn my city, they are working so hard to make animal shelters “no kill shelters.” Wish they could do that for actual humans![]()
Rence,Having people call for physical violence towards the young woman who threw the puppies in the river, or anyone else who abuses animals, is a positive thing in my opinion. I support that. I hope these people get their hands on her.
