The Church has not said animals don’t go to Heaven…and yet you do not have an answer to whether God said only our souls go on or not…you won’t find it-because He didn’t-…I’ve been around a little longer than you have been and I have three dogs…been Catholic all my life and have never had any trouble reconciling what the Bible,or the Holy Spirit writes on the Heart with my Catholic faith-maybe we are just not at the same place-which is fine-if all of us were learning and had the exact same perception at the same time- there would be no catalyst to learn more or to question…you are a good and faithful servant SrKnight-I know God loves you-and whether you agree or not with what I have said- I think you will be pleasantly surpised when you pass if you truly love your dogs…God Bless

(((Stella)))- do you love all people?..of course not… but I’m sure you respect the fact that God does…I feel the same way
Actually, I do love all people. I don’t love some of the things they do. And I don’t always fulfill this love perfectly but I try to because in order to enter Heaven I must:

But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven; for he makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. For if you love those who love you, what reward have you? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? And if you salute only your brethren, what more are you doing than others? Do not even the Gentiles do the same? You, therefore, must be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.

Matthew 5:44-48

Thank the Lord for purgatory!

The Church has not said animals don’t go to Heaven…
The church said that only humans have an immortal soul. An immortal soul survives the death of the body and can move on to heaven or hell. Since animals do not have an immortal soul per church teaching, their souls die with the physical body.
and yet you do not have an answer to whether God said only our souls go on or not…
I see that you have a reading comprehension problem …

In Luke 10:16, Jesus tells His apostles, “he who hears you, hears ME” and the successors of the apostles, through the CCC, which represents the OFFICIAL teaching of the church, state that ONLY mankind has an IMMORTAL soul – Part 3, Section 1, Chapter 1, Article 1, Paragraph 1703 of the Catholic Church Catechism.
you won’t find it-because He didn’t-…
I did find it. See Part 3, Section 1, Chapter 1, Article 1, Paragraph 1703 of the Catholic Church Catechism.
I’ve been around a little longer than you have been
How do you know how long I have been around? Is my birthday listed in my profile somewhere?
and I have three dogs…
And what does that have to do with this discussion?
been Catholic all my life and have never had any trouble reconciling what the Bible,or the Holy Spirit writes on the Heart with my Catholic faith-
How can you say that when what you are stating contradicts what the church has to say about the matter?
I think you will be pleasantly surpised when you pass if you truly love your dogs…God Bless
I’d be surprised as to why Jesus didn’t keep His word – saying that His Holy Spirit of truth would guide His church and then learn that they were teaching false doctrine when He said that the gates of hell would not overcome His church.

“And what does it show about you when you insult other members, implying that you have private revelations from unapproved sources which conflict with church teaching and are in violation of board rules to post?”
I doubt whether anyone was insulted except you. For it was you who fabricated the “private revelations” accusation. As to finding you a “very strange person” I don’t think that in itself is an insult. First one can’t help notice your strange avatar. Secondly, from a review of your posts it appears as though you like to argue. Thirdly, I would deduct from your circular logic that you are not very intelligent. Now as we all know it is NO sin to be stupid, but according to good manners I would think it only courtesey that if you are abusing the privilege that you take a break from responding to incredibly inane topics. I also think you are a gun nut. I am very glad that the rest of us on this site are protected from your “post office” mentality by not actually being subjected to you in person. Are these observations insults? No. They are opinions based on what you have thus far offered. It is also my opinion that you take a little piece of truth and abuse it to try to make a point for the sake of argument. Your attempts to appear to be knowledgable are really very transparent. Barroom mentality is not an asset.
It is rather the truth about who you really are. It is said that the truth “hurts”, yet it is also said that “the truth will set you free.” If I were you I would be careful how I responded to this post for based on your typical posts of late, you may give credence to these observations, and hence, produce the only “proof” that you can offer.

(((Stella))…in the sense that tolerance is love-I agree -but going back to animals- they are much more tolerant and loving than I am-but I’m working on it as much as humanly possible…you say you love all people,I’d have to say you haven’t met all people-so you really don’t know…only God loves all-and you are not God…but I’m sure He is very pleased you are working on it:thumbsup:

SirKnight- It is impossible to even be civil with you- your twists and turns and out of context butchering of posts to make what-a point?..if that’s what you think you are doing-you are mistaken…as for your age you said you had animals from the time you were 6 that was 40+ years ago-I think that gives me a ballpark- which is amazing because you don’t have the wisdom or serenity or assurance that usually comes with age…you only have your interpretation of what you read and the need above all things to be “right”…does the term “clanging cymbal” ring a bell? …it seems like you had someone much kinder and gentler fill in for one post on your behalf because you seem to have no memory of sharing the information…perhaps that explains the need to repeat and repeat and repeat…well you get my drift… we’ve covered the Popes, the Saints, and God-all say animals have souls…if you don’t want to go to Heaven because animals are there too-well…It’s disappointing but we’ll get over it- and I’m sure God will understand if you prefer to go somewhere else…my prayer for you is one of wisdom and understanding-…God Bless

SirKnight- It is impossible to even be civil with you- your twists and turns and out of context butchering of posts to make what-a point?..
What am I twisting out of context? I am quoting directly from the CCC and even providing a supporting reference link which states that ONLY humans have an immortal soul – it doesn’t get any plainer than that.
if that’s what you think you are doing-you are mistaken…as for your age you said you had animals from the time you were 6 that was 40+ years ago-I think that gives me a ballpark- which is amazing because you don’t have the wisdom or serenity or assurance that usually comes with age…you only have your interpretation of what you read
And how do you interpert what I’ve presented? What other possible meaning could it mean that ONLY humans have an immortal soul?
and the need above all things to be “right”…
The need to accurately present church teaching on this matter and lead people astray.
does the term “clanging cymbal” ring a bell? …it seems like you had someone much kinder and gentler fill in for one post on your behalf because you seem to have no memory of sharing the information
Nobody posts under my handle except for me.
…perhaps that explains the need to repeat and repeat and repeat…well you get my drift… we’ve covered the Popes, the Saints, and God-all say animals have souls…
You keep misrepresenting the facts. No one is disagreeing with you that animals do not have souls. Instead, it is being said that accoding to OFFICIAL church teaching ONLY humans have an IMMORTAL soul and you have NOT presented even ONE pope or saitn who has stated that animals have an IMMORTAL soul.
if you don’t want to go to Heaven because animals are there too-well…It’s disappointing but we’ll get over it- and I’m sure God will understand if you prefer to go somewhere else…my prayer for you is one of wisdom and understanding-…God Bless
And when you reject the teachings of the Church, you are rejecting the teachings of Christ and Jesus was very clear about the faith of those who reject those that He sent.

“And what does it show about you when you insult other members, implying that you have private revelations from unapproved sources which conflict with church teaching and are in violation of board rules to post?”
I doubt whether anyone was insulted except you.
Obviously since it wasn’t directed at anyone else besides me.
For it was you who fabricated the “private revelations” accusation.
Then please share with us what you meant by your statement “When you get to heaven and you fill out your requests just don’t check the pets part and you will never see a pet there even though for others they will be there. I have not been given permission to tell you more.” especially when the CCC clearly states that only humans have an immortal soul? Please clarify.
As to finding you a “very strange person” I don’t think that in itself is an insult. First one can’t help notice your strange avatar.
Which stange avatar? The one of the knight which represents my membership in the Knights of Columbus – an organization started by a Catholic priest devoted to works of charity? Or, are you referring the one of the Pope and President Regan – two great men who I both had the opportunity of seeing in person? Or, are you referring to the holy medal of St. Gabriel Possenti – a person who is official recognized as a Saint by the Catholic Church? Which “strange avatar” are you referring to?
Secondly, from a review of your posts it appears as though you like to argue.
As I said above, I wish to accurately present the teachings of the Catholic Church.
Thirdly, I would deduct from your circular logic that you are not very intelligent.
Maybe not but it is obvious that I am more knowledgeable of Church teaching than you are.
Now as we all know it is NO sin to be stupid, but according to good manners I would think it only courtesey that if you are abusing the privilege that you take a break from responding to incredibly inane topics.
Then I suggest you follow you own advise and stop posting false statements which contradict the official teachings of the Catholic Church.
I also think you are a gun nut. I am very glad that the rest of us on this site are protected from your “post office” mentality by not actually being subjected to you in person.
I am a responsible gun owner. I am fulfilling Christ gave us to go out and purchase a sword if they did not have one – even if they had to sell their outer cloak in order to buy one (Luke 22:36-38; cf. 2 Corinthians 11:26-27). A plain reading of Luke 22:36-38 indicates that Jesus approved of self-defense. The “sword” (Greek: maxairan) is a dagger or short sword that belonged to the Jewish traveler’s equipment as protection against robbers and wild animals. Pretty much the equilavent of what a gun is today.

Have you obeyed the Lord’s commandment and seen to it that you are properly armed?
Are these observations insults? No. They are opinions based on what you have thus far offered.
They are incorrect conclusions that an ignorant mind will arrive at.
It is also my opinion that you take a little piece of truth and abuse it to try to make a point for the sake of argument.
And it is my opinon that you disregard what the church teaches and find nothing wrong with misleading people with the false information that you present.
Your attempts to appear to be knowledgable are really very transparent.
And your knowledge is even more lacking. Instead of sticking to the topic of discussion, you have chosen to resort to personal attacks because you are unable to defend your own false position.
Barroom mentality is not an asset.
Who resorted to personal attacks? Who hinted that they had some type of private information able this matter which contradicted the teachings of the church?
It is rather the truth about who you really are.
I know who I am. Thank you very much.
It is said that the truth “hurts”, yet it is also said that “the truth will set you free.”
Does that mean that you are going to admit that you were wrong with regards to this matter and that animals do not have immortal souls?
If I were you I would be careful how I responded to this post for based on your typical posts of late,
You are not me and I suggest that you follow your own advise before giving it to others.
you may give credence to these observations, and hence, produce the only “proof” that you can offer.
The “proof” that I offer is from the official teaching of the Catholic Church on this matter. The only “proof” that you can offer is “I have not been given permission to tell you more.” – hinting at some reference source which disagrees with official church teaching but refusing to name that source or what that comment is suppose to mean.

…well I see that prayer went unanswered…LOL

…So you have NO excuse for not knowing what you write from one post to the next…
I know you think you are accomplishing …“something”…but you’ve lost any chance for credibility a long time ago…now you just sound like a broken record… it does explain the repetition though- you can’t hear God’s voice when you are so pleased at just hearing your own… -I know wholeheartedly God Loves animals in a very special way and takes them home-if that offends you…that’s your problem…we are finished with this poor excuse for charitable conversation and discourse…you just want to argue and cause chaos and turmoil-and that is not of God…

…well I see that prayer went unanswered…LOL

…So you have NO excuse for not knowing what you write from one post to the next…
I know you think you are accomplishing …“something”…but you’ve lost any chance for credibility a long time ago…
You lost your credibility when you were presented with official church teaching and continued to disagree with it WITHOUT offering any supporting church references.
now you just sound like a broken record… it does explain the repetition though- you can’t hear God’s voice when you are so pleased at just hearing your own…
Maybe if you would answer the questions asked of you instead of avoiding them, I wouldn’t have to repeat myself.
-I know wholeheartedly God Loves animals in a very special way and takes them home-
YOU know. YOU know better than the official church. The Holy Spirit has guided the church incorrectly in this matter but has showed the truth to you. Give me a break!
if that offends you…that’s your problem…
What offends me is to have church teaching misrepresented and misleading others with your false beliefs. And leading others against the teachings of the church is a problem that YOU are going to have to answer for.
we are finished with this poor excuse for charitable conversation and discourse…you just want to argue and cause chaos and turmoil-and that is not of God…
Excuse me but the position that I am presenting is being supported by OFFICIAL Catholic Church sources. The position that you are presenting is NOT. By disagreeing with church teaching, it is YOU that is causing turmoil and confusion.

Anyone that cares to look up and read Biblically what is said about the animals and their place in God’s plan… here are a few places to start…
Code:
                   Romans 8:19-21

                    Luke 3:6

                    Psalm36:6

                    Ecclesiates3:18

                    Ecclesiates 3: 19-20
The Catholic foundation for animals supports these Bible verses regarding animals and their special place right alongside humans in God’s Plan…the Catholic Church considers the Bible an official source and does not claim authority above it… even the Knights of Columbus have to recognize the Bible’s authority in such matters…

That is where you are incorrect. The Catholic Church DOES have authority over the Bible. If it didn’t, then it would have not had the authority to put the bible together in the late fourth century. And the OFFICIAL church teaching on this matter is found in Part 3, Section 1, Chapter 1, Article 1, Paragraph 1703 of the Catholic Church Catechism

*Endowed with “a spiritual and immortal” soul, the human person is “the only creature on earth that God has willed for its own sake.” From his conception, he is destined for eternal beatitude.

*… The Catholic Church is the FINAL authority on these matters.

well then…the Bible is the final authority and the Catholic Church agrees…I rest my case…amen

you may give credence to these observations, and hence, produce the only “proof” that you can offer.

Thank you for proving beyond any doubt that all I offered about you being very strange has been corraborated by you. I rest my case.

And the fact that you are unable to stick to the topic being discussed and have to resort to character attacks to distract from the fact that you lack the courage to admit when you are wrong is also evident.

well then…the Bible is the final authority and the Catholic Church agrees…I rest my case…amen
You’re living in your own private little world, aren’t you? For a Catholic who has been “around” longer than I have, you clearly do not have a knowledgeable understanding of your faith – the Church, and NOT the Bible, is the final authority and the Church disagrees with your conclusion … only humans have an immortal soulPart 3, Section 1, Chapter 1, Article 1, Paragraph 1703 of the Catholic Church Catechism

Since the last six pages have been nothing but bickering back and forth among the **same **several people, I assume that there is really nothing more to say on this topic unless it’s in the form of an insult.

Therefore, it is now closed.

A reminder that CHARITY when posting at CAF is paramount. If you cannot remember this, please refrain from posting at all.

Thank you.
