Hey guys, here’s something I found out recently, though you may have already heard of it…

The guy behind the manga for Trigun, a Mr. Y. Nighthow…apparently while still keeping a few of his Buddhist sensibilities, he’s a Catholic Christian. That’s why you can see so many Christian themes in Trigun, like Wolfwood, forgiveness…oh yeah, and being PRO-LIFE!!!

Once I considered that, it was like a landslide. Of course Vash is totally pro-life! It’s not a religious thing, but it’s still at the core of his value system. Everyone, before you watch October Baby for Pro-Life Month, watch the Trigun movie: Badlands Rumble. I DARE you to not see the message! Though of course I really don’t think Nighthow talked about babies at all.

Did someone already post something like this and it’s just that I missed it? Sorry if that’s the case!

I don’t know if it’s been said here yet, but I was aware that the mangaka was Catholic. I think it’s awesome, as is the series. 😃

Sitting on my couch, in front of my television.
LOL, something tells me Snow-san isn’t talking about the physical location of our bodies when we watch, lol, but which sites do we usually use to stream anime. xD
Just askin’… Where do you usually watch anime???
CR (Crunchyroll.com) - been a Premium member there for about a year now, and love it there!
TheAnimeNetwork.com
Hulu.com
Funimation.com

These are probably the main 4 I use, and the anime content from there (number-wise), is easily the best, that is, though, if one lives in the U.S. due to all the region restrictions that exist outside of it. There’s like over a dozen other legal ones out there (mainly for the U.S., though), but I almost never use them, lol.

U can actually do a search within the thread if u scroll up to near the top of the page, there’s a “Search Thread” heading which u can use to filter out what u are looking for. So I just typed in “Trigun” and found that on Sep 6, 2011, EphelDuath, posted something a little similar, but not entirely. In any case, though, no need for worry as no one would expect u or anyone to actually use the “Search” function to see if something was posted recently. 🙂 😃

Crunchyroll and the Funimation youtube channel. I also use Netflix and Hulu, but not as often, since I usually have to use a mobile device these days. 🙂

Thus far, I’ve watched:

–Golden Time
–BlazBlue
–Kyokai no Kanata (Beyond the Boundary)
–Gingitsune
–Outbreak Company
–Strike the Blood
–Arpeggio of Blue Steel
–Log Horizon

Golden Time’s my #1 show this season, but I’m a Toradora fanboy, so I’m biased. Arpeggio is also very good, and it’s entirely CG, as far as I can tell. Log Horizon and Outbreak Company are also worth a look. Akatsuki (Log Horizon) and Myucel (Outbreak Company) are adorable.
For this season I’m surely watching:
Kill La Kill - for over the top hotblooded action and Trigger
Galileo Donna - for scifi adventure time and flying robo goldfish
Samurai Flamenco - for justice
Kyosugiga - for eccentric fun
White Album 2 - for drama
Hajime no Ippo - for sports hotblooded action

These shows I’m giving the 3 episode rule:
Coppelion
Non Non Biyori
Tokyo Ravens

I’ll start watching Golden Time when it catches up to the manga.

Hajime no Ippo - for sports hotblooded action
Awesome! I’ll take it you saw the first 2 seasons already? Loved the 1st season of it, just so many epic, dramatic fights! Easily one of my favorite shows of all time! I think more people really need to give this show a shot. The ratings for it (the 76 ep 1st season) on MAL speak for themselves:

Score: 8.87 (scored by 32886 users)
Ranked: #15

Being ranked 15 out of thousands of animes is certainly deserved!

Being ranked 15 out of thousands of animes is certainly deserved! I’ve been clamoring for CR to get this show, actually, so I’m glad they picked this one up! I’d imagine they might pick up the 1st 2 seasons as well now. ~ I know they’ve done this with shows before (where they went back and picked up previous seasons of a show), and recently did this with Rozen Maiden. Now if they can just get Planetes and Hyouka for me, lol. xP

Has anyone here watched Angel Beats?

I just saw the final episode and…wow 🙂 Not only does Key produce excellent animation and voice acting (dubbing included), the storyline is superb! I personally noticed quite a lot of Christian symbolism within the context of the series, but I’m of course not giving the plot away 😉

Thinking about watching Clannad…not sure I’ll be able to take it since I found Angel Beats sad

I thought Angel Beats! was pretty good. While the ending didn’t make me cry (possibly because I had been spoiled already), I was sufficiently bummed out by the whole experience that I really needed that special episode. It was absolutely hilarious.

The series isn’t quite as good as Clannad, but that might not be a fair comparison because Clannad is several times longer than it, if you take both seasons into consideration.

Greetings, Cath-otaku senpais! Mind if a kouhai can ask for help?

So recently I decided I wanted to fill my shelves with nothing but manga! However, I have no idea where to start. 😦 there’s just too many titles to choose from and I cant just simply buy many titles at once.

Any manga collectors out there to help me out??

Not a manga collector… Or anything collector, hah. But shouldn’t you pick based on what kinds of stories you like? You don’t want to buy a bunch of mediocre stories in genres you don’t care for. 😛

So… What interests you?

That’s the thing. Lot’s of stuff interest me. I’m more for the seinen, dark stuff. I like some aspects of shounen and I have a guilty pleasure for the shoujo, innocent, stuff (Yes… I like moe not in the way you think. Please don’t hit me).
But some aspects of dark stories are what really keep me on edge.

Well, the main plot is already given away in the synopsis of many anime sites like MAL, ANN, AniDB, etc. 😃 Thus, I think it’s a good idea to let people have an inkling of what it’s about. ^.^ And I’ll just say one word to describe it: Purgatory. 😃

Anyway, loved this show! I cried buckets and buckets at the ending, and had to re-watch it over and over, lol! One of my favorite tear-jerkers of all time. Not as good as Anohana though (for me anyway).

I think this anime is really worth taking a look at, at least a few eps. It scored ridiculously well on MAL as well:

Score: 8.58 (scored by 165,648 users)
Ranked: #61

As for Clannad, I just finished the 1st season (finally) a couple days ago! Thought it was pretty good. It certainly had its touching moments (where my eyes watered up a little bit), but there were parts that kind of put me to sleep as well. I might be in the minority here, but I preferred the alternate world ending, much much more! Needless to say, if I ever play the VN for this, I’d go for that route, lol.

In any case, I’m looking forward to the After Story sequel, which I know is supposed to be much better.

Ah, spoilers drive me nuts, lol! The thing I find most of the time is that people have a tendency to speak about things that happened in the manga of a series, well before it even takes place in the anime series, and that can be a little aggravating sometimes, especially when a thread is solely for speaking about the anime. AoT anyone? 😃 I had to stay clear from any AoT threads back when it was still airing because of this, lol, and believe me, I REALLY wanted to talk it over with people, but… just too many people reading the manga and saying things that they ought not to be saying. 😦

Also, I believe there were 2 special eps of Angel Beats - haven’t seen either of them, but now u got me interested! xD
Any manga collectors out there to help me out??
I don’t collect manga anymore, but based on what u like, u could try Monster (especially if u haven’t seen the anime yet). Haven’t read the manga myself but I’ve heard from others that the manga is basically the same as the anime, but much better paced, since the anime can be slow at times.
Also, since u are not sure what to buy, u probably could also browse the online catalog of mangas in your local libraries (from your home), so that u can borrow them first before u buy. The libraries where I live at have a ton (as well as anime to borrow - all for free too). xD

Look into Durarara’s manga.

Hi

I was wondering if any of you know of Non perverted anime shows. I like anime but its just getting to perverted. I like yu yu hakusho, samurai champloo, and trigun. I looking for comedy anime kind of like Fruits Baskets, which I really like, but the only down side was that it was kind of a chick flick.

Anyway just thought I ask you folks.

Thanks

If you liked Fruits Basket, you may enjoy Ouran High School Host Club. The only thing is, it has the occasional moment that might raise your eyebrow. I might also suggest Clannad and its sequel, Clannad After Story. However, the story gets really sad. Same thing with Angel Beats! Those are just off the top of my head.

The thing about ecchi, my friend, is that it’s UNPREDICTABLE. Let’s say a show is tagged ‘Harem’ or ‘Shounen’. No ecchi right?? Wrong. The thing is, you’ll NEVER know unless you watch it yourself.

A little advice, watch the opening before the series itself. It helps ALOT. It actually saved me from a particular anime named Kiss X Sis <---------(NEVER WATCH THIS!!!).

Helpful tip: Shoujo has BARELY any ecchi 😃 (There is "MAN"SERVICE however…)

Not to mention the fact that ecchi seems to go on a scale.

That reminds me: You should probably avoid most anime that mention sisters or brothers in the title. If you’re that curious, reading a synopsis helps.
